Is it £1 for every ride, or is that £1 to ride up and down as much as you like?

    Cheers!

£1 per ride- hardly breaks the bank when the rest of the event is free.

Depends if the ELR send a driver?
will be in a line up with 1827 on the photo night as per when it left the works. We may well put it in line ups thoughout the event. Will be in the 1830 area thought so can be seen though out the event.

WF has been shunted out of the shed at Bressingham and is standing in the public area awaiting the transport to MOSI. Pulling him (her?) up the grade certainly made King Hakon work for a change, whilst setting back onto the tarmaced track called for the lightest of touches on the regulator.

There is a webcam mounted on the signal box that shows the area http://www.bressingham.co.uk/content/webcam.aspx
I don't know when the low-loader is due - if I found out I'll post details here and we can all watch the loading online :)

The Beyer 0-4-0st No. 1827 was unloaded at about 1:30pm this afternoon and is now safely tucked away in the powerhall. Will try and post some pictures up later.

William Francis now safely sat in Liverpool Road station after unloading and an hour long struggle to get through the main gate bringing chaos to the Castlefield area of Manchester!

Indeed, it is "All Go" at MoSI and Liverpool Road Station is becoming temporary home to some interesting locos and some real show stealers!
ELR Beyer Peacock Hymek is due tomorrow lunchtime...

    BREAKING NEWS:
Sadly, MoSI must announce that BR 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" will definately not be attending the Great Garratt Gathering at MoSI. This is due to over-running boiler retube work. Our thanks still go to the 71000 Group for their kind offer of this loco and we will still likely see 71000 at MoSI in the near future.

To fill the gap left by 71000, MoSI are pleased to announce a further Beyer Peacock Loco to the lineup, at short notice and on kind loan from the KWVR: Lancashire and Yorkshire "Ironclad" No.957.

The total Beyer Peacock Lineup now stands at 8 locos:
    IOMR No.3 "Pender" (MoSI)
    Steam Tram "John Bull" (Crich)
    L&YR No.957 (K&WVR)
    0.4.ST "1827" (Foxfield)
    Tasmanian Garratt "K1" (WHR)
    SAR Garratt (MoSI)
    Garratt "William Francis" (Bressingham)
    Hymek D7076 (ELR)

Both "William Francis" and No.957 on their first visit away from their respective homes for many years. No.957 will be in steam during the Great Garratt Gathering and during the Thursday evening photocharter. (Tickets can still be booked) 957 may also undertake short demostration goods trains during the Garratt event.

The "Roaring Road Rally" will be taking place the weekend prior to the GGG and will include classic cars, buses, a tram, steam road vehicles, lorrys, military vehicles etc etc A bus shuttle will operate to Boyle Street Bus Museum on certain days and the MoSI Railway will be operating 10am-5pm all days from the 8th-16th August. Finally, dont miss the unique oportunity to tour round the surviving original Beyer Peacock works at Gorton on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th, heritage buses depart MoSI at regular intervals for this purpose.

SO- if you are not planning to atend, perhaps the time has come to check train times to Manchester, charge the batteries or put new film in your camera and plan a trip to MoSI for what is sure to be THE new venue "one-of" Rail event of 2009...!

I can't make the Garratt weekend but would love to see William Francis - will it be on display on any other dates other than the main weekend?

Yesterday Beyer Peacock "1827" was steamed for testing the vacuum brakes on MoSI stock. All went well and "1827" made a fine sight operating at MoSI and shunting the stock around in readyness for the next weeks arrivals. The sound of the large hooter whistle echos nicely off the 1830s railway buildings!

As a sneak preview- "1827" will be in steam again tomorrow (sunday 2nd) and MAY operate a few passenger trains rather than "Planet". The first time since 2006 that two steam locos have been operated together at MoSI.

    Next Arrivals:

Tomorrow should see the delivery of the "Eades Patent Reversable horse Tram" from Heaton Park Tramway which will be on display in the lower car park during the whole 9 day event.

Thursday will see the Beyer Peacock Steam Tram "John Bull" arrive from Crich, better known as Gorton Foundry works shunter No.2. This event will be the first time both Beyer Peacock works shunters have been re-united since 1966!
