New Patriot boiler to be built at Crewe?

    It's all very well having a wheel; but what about some axles to fit them on, some axle-boxes which the axles can rotate within, some hornguides which the axleboxes can ride within and some frame stretchers to keep those lovely frames the right distance apart.
    Methinks Mr Bling is bigging it up prematurely.

    I heard via another loco group's newsletter that the Patriot project has acquired at least some of these items.

    It's called marketing - Launch an appeal to raise money to produce axles & see how much money arrives !

    I think that they will be possibly be using a lot of fittings from 48518.

    And i think you will find there going to be ordered after all the wheels are produced after january. i think the amount of 95k was mentioned to get it all done at the south devon railway. the plan is to have a rolling chassis done by the end of 2011. the reason the boiler is then next is that people will more likely join if they see things big ie the boiler as they then will be convinced it is more possible.

    work has now started on the tender down at barry. there are pictures in the last online railway herald.
