First close view of these today, realised that they must be for the Yorkshire service judging by the indicator board.

Someone who specified that board should be hung, drawn etc. for not having enough spaces available for what will be a commonly used message.

Many thanks for these pictures RalphW!

I really like the design and livery of these new trains!:) The bogies looks a bit odd then with their bare disc wheels:confused: (no outside frames) Is it because of the restricted British loading gauge maybe?

    Knut:)

There are 12 new EMUs for services up the West Coast Mainline (Glasgow/Edinburgh to Liverpool/Manchester).

However Scarborough/Middlesborough/Newcastle services will be worked by 14 rakes of new loco-hauled carriages (hauled by 68s), and 19 new Hitachi 'bi-mode' diesel/overhead electric units:

These inside-frame bogies are quite a bit lighter than traditional designs, and are pretty common now on new fleets.

I don't know if they are, but being open like that really emphasises the small size of the wheels.

The Push-Pull sets remind me of the Austrian railjet trains. I hope that they are as good as OEBB’s.

If it’s not in service who cares which coach is which? Just drop that character from the message surely?

As a dyed-in-the-wool steam nut who likes BR's First Generation Diesels, Electrics and DMUs, I do find a lot of the modern designs look absolutely hideous, almost like parts-bin specials... The exposed bogie wheels look like a pair of accomodation trolleys, and that rear-end just beggars description... Long-gone are the days of aesthetics!

    Richard.
