Everyone at the NNR that knows has been told not to publicise it just yet, so I think it will eventually be put on the website.

i think the main reason is that we're 99% sure it will come, but we wont be 100% until in a couple of weeks time.

(rumour starting cap on) that sounds to me like it's something coming in by rail, so something mainline registered (rumour starting cap off)

I did think the uncertainty of appearance (although 99% is high) was the main reason for this website approach. Let's hope it happens.

I suppose its too much to ask about the other "possible guest engine" ?
I'm guessing availability is also the main factor here for not naming loco.
Roll on a couple of weeks time.

Thinking about it 99% is high make it more 80% to 90% sure. it will definetly be a good gala though! :D

If it is due to come by rail I hope it is public, would love to see it over the crossing

maybe the sig above is a clue

big engines + North Norfolk Railway = Sheringham Crossing

    :)

Out of the list of rumoured loco's that have been mentioned around the NNR that particular Apple Green loco is an outsider.

I'm sure it will eventually be on the website.

I'm still going with No 30777 Sir Lamiel.
Rumoured to be leaving Sheringham via crossing to Barrow Hill event.

NNR.76079. Am I 80 -90% right or wrong? Careful not to give too much away!

Probably doubtful, on uksteam it states her possibly running a tour between Liverpool & Glasgow on the 3rd.

TBH is there much point guessing what loco it will be, the people who know wont tell you if you guess it, if they even said 'your right' in a pm to whoever guesses it they are hardly keeping to NNR's wishes. Just seems to me they enjoy knowing something others don't and showing off about it....

I'm also surprised that it hasn't been posted on here that 'Ring Haw' is now confirmed....

I can see this "Mystery guest loco" scenario working in different ways.

For example. Advertise " Tornado" Sing from the roof tops. Engine not available at last minute. Major disappointment. ie Bittern I think was advertised earlier in the year. Didn't happen.

Keep peoples interest advertising guest loco, hoping it is available, when confirmed give details on the web etc. Everyone happy.

Second scenario seems to keep interest alive and people checking web for details. The NNR obviously feels this is the correct approach on this occasion. Also promotes healthy debate on marketing strategy!

All good fun. Lets keep guessing. Prize? One trip to Norfolk for the correct answer.

    NNR.76079 your views on.
Example "Tornado" for NNR gala Subject to availability.

I know all locos are subject to this, but doesn't this have a better chance of people planning a trip to Norfolk hoping the said loco appears but are well aware it could not?
They will still be looking at the web for confirmation of appearance.
Some people like to make travel plans well in advance. Norfolk is well off the beaten track for many.

I am sure it also gives you all at NNR a certain amount of satisfaction you know the potential loco. Hope it comes off for you.

Next guess. 43106 (Pigs might fly)!

'Tornado' is less likely to visit than other loco's because even though there is a ten day gap in its mainline duties (which the gala is slap bang in the middle of), both duties either side of the gala are from Bristol, so it's got to come from the other side of the country and go back again after the gala :( but i've learnt never say never.

I still won't tell what the 'Suprise Guest Loco' is but, i will say, try to get Norfolk for the gala, as it will be brilliant alongside the other locos.
