I’m impressed, as I’d have thought there’d be more non taxpayers out

Good day out on the NYMR today, on a sunny of cold day. Whitby trains running with 5 coaches and teak set 4 coaches. I would guess the the Pickering - Whitby services were running at some 75% capacity, which is good news for the railway!

I often wonder how many folks fully understand how it is supposed to work. Mind you do HMRC have the staff or time to check anyway?

Yes, and they have the tools with which to do so, with little or no human intervention. I've had people come to me saying "HMRC have written to me to say that I've donated too much...", and had to help them out - usually by reversing the relevant Gift Aid claim(s).

Class 37 pushing what appeared to be a driving trailer, green with a nameplate and yellow ends? Intrigued!

Sounds like Caroline. Give me a mo and I’ll try and find a pic for you.
    Edited, was it this?

    I'm glad Caroline's still around.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/975025_Caroline

I'm pretty sure it was formerly routinely stored in the carriage shed at Clapham Junction - you'd see it tucked at the back whenever the shed was largely empty.

I suspect it will look something similar for the rest of the week, with Sybilla diesel cl.25 having replaced North Star diesel cl.47 on the teaks late on Monday; though don’t forget Thursday - Saturday the 12.40 ex Grosmont and 14.10 return operate as the Pullman dining service on those days (with NO standard seating) and tend to operate as steam hauled, meaning there would be a shuffle around on those days between the Q6 and Sybilla (unless 825 can come out to play).

Does anyone know whether it was Caroline that was used during the parallel running in 1988 to film City of Wells between Templecombe and Yeovil Junction? What a brilliant run that was behind City of Wells and the return to Salisbury was even better!!! I found this link -

There used to be a longer video online but I can't find it now.

Not sure why that link didn't post. If you Google using these words then the video comes up as the second entry in the list for me - city of wells templecombe yeovil junction

The Cl.25 will be replaced by 825 tomorrow so the remainder of the week should see 825, 63395 and 76079 in use with 31128 being used on the 09.20 and 12.35 between Grosmont and Whitby only.

There’s a screenshot of a Facebook post doing the rounds, alleging that an incident occurred recently with a carriage becoming detached from a NYMR Whitby-Pickering service. Does anyone know any more about this, whether it is accurate or not?

Here's the original with comments that seem to confirm it https://www.facebook.com/groups/615455471930552/posts/2735613379914740/

I await the RAIB report with interest.
