Well, imo a very good day. We went down to Northallerton in order to catch the morning northbound shuttle, but had a PERSONAL announcement by Steve Davis a couple of minutes before it arrived, to advise that Olton Hall had been unable to raise steam, & the 47 was hauling the train. We decided to ride anyway, as Lizzie was hooked on the rear ready for the southbound journey. There was a possibility that the Hall would recover, but there was also a potential 'pathing' problem if she were to haul the afternoon train. Just after departure Darlington southbound, we heard that the Hall was now fit, & Network Rail had 'tweaked' the path. Apparently the afternoon train was initially pathed for the Slow lines through Thirsk, & as the Hall wasn't 'gauged' for the Slows, that was why the '47' had initially been allocated. We decided to stay on to York with Lizzie, & come back to Northallerton with Olton Hall. We're glad we did - a great run both ways. Many thanks to all concerned, including the good folk at NR for doing the needful. We were saddened to see so many empty seats though :( . Lots & lots of folk at the lineside, including, sadly, at least one person who was 'fouling' the Down Slow at one point as we were heading towards York :(

Is it likely Ollie will be out next weekend? I am planning on riding on the Sunday and would like to partake in a ride with Oliver Cromwell again.

I would expect Olly to be working this weekend - most likely with 47798 and Olton Hall. 6201 should be heading south to Tysley today.

I will be riding the shuttles next weekend, but unfortunantly only one way. I want to see both galas so will be doing Shildon on Saturday and York on Sunday. However I don't think there is enough time for us folks in Durham to be in York to appreciate the line up fully so I will be using the service train to come down on the morning and use the shuttle to head back.

Is there any chance shuttles in the future could start at Shildon or timings be increased to give us more time in York.

I've actually suggested on the feedback forms handed out on the trains last weekend that the possibility of starting from Shildon should be considered

For info - Saturday's trains will be:

    1st Olton Hall and Cromwell
    2nd 47 and Cromwell

Sunday's two trains will be a WCRC 37 and Cromwell on both - this comes from Steve Davies who has asked me to put it on forums etc

When does OC arrive at the NRM? Is it already there or still at Southall?
