I notice that 5029 is sat at Barton Hill with a large piece of tarpaulin over her smoke box door.
Any issues that anyone knows of?
She was booked to haul this years first Royal Duchy on Sun 29th but that's been allocated to 34067 or 70013.

It's being converted to a double chimney version.

I thought it was getting streamlining.

I know everyone mocks Collett's streamlining, but it would be interesting to see them all in a wind tunnel. That version does minimise the lateral area which might make a difference with cross winds.

The tarpaulin has more aerodynamic value than the Swindon streamlining...

Only the LNER version was worthwhile, for all the striking look, the LMS version offers little.

It's being converted into 111 The Great Bear as well using one of the left over 3' 8" trailing wheels of 5193 (WSR 9351).

Will emerge in BR Express Passenger Blue

Will be numbered 129 Nunney Bear / The Great Castle

No. 5029 was not booked to work The Royal Duchy on the 29th. If you visit www.iconsofsteam.com you will see all of the workings that our locos are rostered for.

That site doesn't appear to show the Bristol - Weymouth motive power. A group of us (10+) would like to travel but are reluctant to book until we know which dates 5029 is rostered.

The Weymouth Seaside Express working for June will be going up later, at present we are only rostered to be working the train on June 27th. We won't be confirming which of our locomotives will be hauling the train until approximately 1 week in advance.

Please forgive my typing error, yes you are correct that July 27th and not June.

I just didn't want anybody to go wrong. When you have a group of people 10 or more who want to travel behind the castle that is a big deal in my books and the date is important so don't feel bad.

That's a pity - potential loss of a decent booking.
