    I will see if I can get the latest on 44767 when I am up there for ther "Pie and Pea" tonight. last I heard was a steam test, so sounds pretty close.

    Our Charter Supervisor Mandy is planning sufficient pies and peas to cater for people turning up on the night, so don't worry if you haven't pre-booked but find you can join "the Duke" - be at Grosmont for about 19:30, back from Battersby just after 22:00.

    Really enjoyed the Sunday Battersby trips and Monday around Grosmont and Goathland. Having a breather before coming back for 2 days of more photo's and travel.
    Meanwhile here's the first of some short video clips commencing with a Darnholme Monday medley. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN2hlc9QMjg

    I understand that 44767 is on steam test for the insurance company today, The gauge frames have been replaced. Meanwhile, work on TPWS continues.

    Excellent run to Battersby last night - 123 on board, around 100 pie and peas served. Talk of trying something similar a little later in the year when the diner is running to Battersby, with non-Pullman coaches attached. Yesterday also pretty busy - first time the NYMR has done a Gala mid-week (other than Friday starts - and last friday was a very busy day compared with past experience).

    "Branch line trains" is a theme for today, along with a recreation of the very earliest NYMR members trains - which ran to Summit only.

    Updates and highlights of the last 3 days are:

    · Confirmation that following the passing of a boiler exam, 44767 George Stephenson will run for the first time since returning to NYMR on Friday 6 May. This means we will have 5 Stanier ‘Black 5s’ in operation tomorrow – we believe this is a first in preservation, and this first time since the end of BR steam in 1968. No real enthusiast can afford not to be there!

    · North Eastern Railway local trains between Pickering and Levisham on Friday;

    · Model Railway exhibition at Pickering on Saturday and Sunday. “See the model trains your Dad would have played with” from before and after the War, plus a finescale model of the North Eastern Railway (or which the Whitby & Pickering was once a part) set in the Pennines.

    Also a reminder of:

    · Goods and shuttle trains at Grosmont;

    · Not one but two replica early railway locos in operation this weekend – the National Railway Museum’s ‘Rocket’ at Pickering, and Manchester Museum of Science & Industry’s ‘Planet’ at Levisham. In a change to the programme, there no longer an charge to travel (but we hope happy passengers will give generously!);

    · Big engines – both 71000 Duke of Gloucester and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley running Saturday and Sunday, plus 92214 (newly named by the owner ‘Cock O the North’);

    · Esk Valley running on Sunday (including 71000) giving over 40 miles of steam worked railway and a chance to experience ride the ‘main line’ running a much lower price than on a normal main line excursion.

    And much, much more!

    Just returned from NYMR today.

    71000 60007 825 D5061 92214 all running superbly. It was confirmed at Pickering station that they are looking at definately turning 45212. According to the timetable this was supposed to be happening tonight, however we I left Grosmont at 1830, it was tucked up behind two other Black 5's in the sheds so unsure if it did get turned. George Stephenson however took the 1830 departure to Pickering. All seemed to be perfectly fine with the loco.

    My personal opinion on the programs - value for money - poor. There is a lot of content that could have been put into the program. If you want a glossy program with info on the locos and a timetable, then fine, however if you are after anything else, I woud save your pennies.

    Sad to see so many old un used spare / scrap locos lying around. Surely they could be put to better use.

    Some fab photos, videos and a good day out. Fingers crossed for a return trip next month should my work scheduale allow.

    Black 5 Friday tomorrow - should be a good one.

    45212 turned this afternoon, however 44871 turned earlier in the day! Also only 45428 seems to be sticking to its diagram today. 45407 and 44871 have swapped, so 45407 can do the Whitby turns. 45212 and 44767 also swapped too, according to what's in the programme.

    Very warm and dry up here. Sun is finally out fully, it's been overcast and hazy all day.

    I got back late last night, very tired, utterly drained, but it was an excellent gala. I shall post my films on YouTube when I have edited them later in the week. My thanks to everyone at the NYMR

    Finally made it to the last day of the gala. A bit disapointed after setting off very early on sunday morning to find that the freight had been cancelled when i arrived. You would have thought with 5 black fives at the gala, one could be have been used on it. Apart from that and the early rain, I enjoyed the day out,
    well done
