The main site now has a downloadable timetable. At the bottom of this page.
    Includes the Esk Valley trains.
£4 (through Paypal from the same page) if you want the loco workings in advance though :-k

Thanks for the link. Does anyone know how reliable the Coastliner buses are from Malton to Pickering (the blue ones)?

I use the coastliner buses between Leeds and Goathland practically every time i visit the Moors, they are always on time, i've never known one run late!
Hmmm... they can get full but there always double deckers so you'll always find a seat, i've never had a problem in that department...

Ok, thanks for that. I think I might go for it and get the bus from Malton. How far from the stations at Malton and Pickering do the buses stop?

Isn't there normally a special vintage bus service free of charge in operation from Malton train station to Pickering for the NYMR on gala weekends?
I seem to recall it for the previous few gala's, however not sure if its in operation again.

The Malton bus station is opposite the train station and its a couple of minutes away from the NYMR at Pickering.

    Couple of updates.

Firstly, a very limited number of footplate rides on Tornado are being made available to the general public, subject to minimum requirements in respect of age and general fitness. Details on the NYMR website at : http://nymr.co.uk/news/buy-the-steam-ga ... ide-online. Bookings through Pickering Customer Services - 01751 472508.

You can advance pruchase tickets and avoid queues on the day via the same number - and many people already are!

Secondly, on the brochure, there has been a delay in its production and hard copies ordered and paid for in advance will be available to collect on the first weekend, posted out for the second. Those who have pre-ordered and supplied an e-mail address will either already have received or shortly receive a pdf copy by e-mail, so advance ordering is still possible - and can give you a paper copy of rosters etc. for "field" use and a "good" copy to keep! If you have pre-ordered without an e-mail address (if that was possible!), please supply one as soon as you can.

I have pre-ordered and paid for the event brochure, I have a confirmation number sent via e-mail, so I assume you have my e-mail address but I have received nothing from NYMR !

For those needing to collect their brochures this coming weekend, please do this at Pickering or Grosmont Shops, quoting the e-mail address used to make the order. You will receive £1 back, which was the postage & packing. Any not collected this weekend will be posted next week.

53809 has arrived but needs it annual boiler exam ahead of next weekend, so it is "all hands to the pump" this week.

Tornado due in this afternoon; move is the last part of the Top Gear trip, which change of TOC at Battersby to NYMR!

Steven, I'm attending 2nd weekend of gala so hopefully brochure will arrive before hand. Having received the email containing tts etc, that's fine, but I wonder if it would be possible to indicate online which way the locos should be facing.

I am looking to travel to the gala on Bank Holiday Monday - can anyone confirm whether Tornado is scheduled to run as this is the one I want to see in the flesh for the first time!

Couple of questions, which I will try to answer!

No "on-shed" photo shoot this time - we did it because of the 3 A4 line up last year. Tornado is doing a couple of photocharters - booking via John Hunt - I haven't heard an update on availability but can pass on details to John if anyone in interested.

Tornado is planned to be in use every day from 30th April (Press launch) to 10th May.

Most NYMR locos face south, i.e. smokebox up the 1 in 49, firebox at the downhill end, although one of our longest standing drivers (and NP member) does point out firebox at the top during a climb means there is no danger of a water surge forward uncovering the crown of the box when the gradient eases!

At the moment, 45212 is the only exception to that rule and faces North, although 45407 and 76079 are both marked down to be turned to face North. I think 45407 may already have been done, and I suspect the reason is so it isn't to turn on its way out on Friday for the Welsh job this weekend. (45407 is only due to appear the second weekend of the Gala, so will be back!)

60163 and 60007 both face South and will stay that way as they are too long to turn at Pickering without splitting lcoo and tender.

Remember Tornado is doing the evening Pullman from Grosmont to Pickering on the Fridays and Grosmont to Battersby on the Saturdays and non-dining seats are available on all these trips - see the NYMR website.

The website also has details of park and ride arrangements at Pickering for the event.

Do you mean south rather than north Steven? Photos on Tommo79's site (http://markt79.fotopic.net/c1674650.html) show 60163 facing south, and I would've thought 60007 would also be facing south after returning from Barrow Hill.

    Looking forward to this hugely.

I've ordered my programme but haven't recd a .pdf by email as some others have. I did email today but not had a reply yet. If someone has got the pdf copy could you forward it to me? matt@mattallenphoto.co.uk and desperate to plan the weekend(s). Cottage booked at Esk Valley so should be right in the heart of the action!
