From my visit in January, that was the status of the 1st of the 2 new boilers. so not much changed, its construction was being checked and signed off at various critical stages, by an independent engineer.
No boiler has been delivered yet, as i would expect that to be all over the local news, they follow the build really well.
If it does arrive, will let everyone know.

And lets be honest, unless something untoward occurs with the boiler Tornado is carrying there is no massive rush other than the need for some publicity column inches.
Wonder if they can get a UK boiler Inspector over there to look it over before it ships this time.!?
Am i right in thinking that the superheater fitting will be done in the UK ? don't recall a superheater header being made as yet...

Well if they’d got the cylinder block in then a boiler could come in useful. But as the whole project is now so far off course then there aren’t any current targets AFAIK?

First they need a new cannon box casting to get the pony truck in, as that becomes a pain, from the comment on my visit.

Maybe they are getting forced to accept it, (boiler No 2), as the failures and possible construction errors on the very 1st boiler are now rectified.
    Just a thought.

Of course, as soon as it is complete the makers will want out of the way and paid for.

A boiler inspector is going to be concerned with its suitability as a pressure vessel, not its dimensional accuracy.

Indeed, but the recieving clinet will have a drawing that the boiler should comply to, and of course a dimensional report will be on hand demonstrating compliance.

    I presume.

Anybody seen the boiler anywhere? I’ve heard nothing since Davies informed the faithful that the latest revision of the delivery date was now April. July is now looming large ….. I think I need to check back in my records on the previous due dates ……

Although, iirc, the boiler won’t be mounted until the cylinder block is installed in the frames, of which there’s no news either, so it could all be rather academic ?

And before which they need a canon box casting, then machined, for pony truck to be fitted.

Something has to cause the slippage in delivery times, But I doubt we will be told, what.
