Oddly enough I am a fan of the naming of the engines, they really suit them too!

Goliath is a personal favourite :)

Ah HAA, so it is 'Hercules' after all.
No comment on the livery accuracy, but she is finished to a very high standard - well done chaps!

Now, how about getting on the phone to the SDR and doing a swap between 4588 and 3803??
Another GWR tender loco would be nice on the P&DSR. Just keep the coal well watered and it'd be fine going backwards!

A nice paint job for 4277, pity I never got to Churston when I was in Torbay last weekend to sneak a look in the workshops but I got rides behind 3803,7827 and 5239 so the few days I was there was worthwhile.

Yes, now that the bestowed name is (literally) in the open, the new 'HERCULES' nameplate in similar font style sits quite well on 4277. These were recorded at Churston yesterday with 5239 making a duo (both of 34067s recent visits to the line also amongst these),

Assumed the Kingswear departure time for the returning Kingfisher charter yesterday (with Class 25) was 17.24?

You can say what you like about the livery, but the presentation of the P&D locos is stunning.

4277 especially is a credit to the people involved (love the shiny bonnet too).

Love her she looks great just can't wait to see her in action now!

I'm glad I guessed the name correctly though as I guessed as much when D7535 was altered.

My partner is much the same..... couldn't tell the difference between a 9f and a wheelbarrow! Just ignore it, that's what I do anyway! They've just got no idea! :)

I havn't read this thread fully for a while and have done so, Therefore I'm responding to a few posts within!

The PDSR do a great (and unique job at running the only railway in the country which returns a very large profit, to run the railway as it was meant to be with paid staff entirely [Except Churston of Course]). As far as I'm aware nobody else has or can do this and yet they still overhaul the locos within a reasonable time keep 3 or 4 in steam and make it an enjoyable and friendly visit. Therefore they should be applauded =D> =D> and congratulated and not criticised (Unless Constructive) about what they can't change or alter, after all there are a lot of Health & Safety rules I'd like to change, but what the powers that be say is final and can't be changed so live with it. Or get a job with them and change it!

The staff are also great I think the problems people have may be by the way they interpret what you are asking of them as I usual get answers even off BC even if a little cryptic at times, but maybe that's because most of them recognise me as, like my mum says I visit far too often. Or maybe you need to be considerate and not ask things when they are obviously busy, or cause them unnessacary grief as they had a lot from 'so called enthusuasts' at the Heritage weekend and usually a little when the Torbay Express visits. So no wonder they are a little cagy, maybe its the same old story a stupid few spoiling it for everyone else.

Also the PDSR did open the sheds for the Heritage Weekend with great difficulty and effort I think, this is something they have never done before and I hear may happen again next year. The effort and organisation probably needed for this event must have been massive but thankfully it was a success and so further things will happen.

As for the Namplates and livery's I think they add a nice touch and a different photo take the 4200 class for example 4247 and 4277 now have the same livery with slightly different styles so you know have two different photo opurtunities. Also it's what the kids remember when they come back and if you attract their attention at 5 yeas old then they may just become volunteers of the future, another thread says these are few and far between. If they are so urgently needed then is a nameplate so hard to live with?? Also back in the 'good old days' every company liveried their vehichles differently to what everyone else did so you could tell them apart therefore if (and I say if) 4277 was to turn up on the WSR or SDR for instance you would now from 100 paces that it was 4277 why because it had the PDSR's lining?

The wheel splashers aren't big enough to put a nameplate on?

I'm not sure the comment wasn't really from "any high up source as it were" but was internal and did say they'd overheard that is wasn't waned or required also as a coincidence of 4277, 75014's overhaul has now been pushed back by another 2 to 3 years

Probably moving her ready for loading onto a low loader pity seems she's going sooner than I expected would have bee nice to get a pic of her at the weekend before she goes. It's probably also helping with 4277's running and testing etc
