5239 was taken off after the first round trip of the day. The 'rat' replaced it, the reason, a broken spring. 4277 due to replace 5239 on Thursday.

4277 & Manor today. Both trains had 3 ex Tysley DMU cars in the formation and the MK1s lacked tables. It may be a short journey but proper coaches would be better. Devon Belle £1.50 supplement is a bit underpriced. £2.50?

The DMU cars seat more passengers that the MK1s, and even using those some trains have to be strengthened to 13 coaches. As for tables, not sure why they are missing as no seating is lost by having them.

The supplement for the observation car is good value - I normally take this option as a matter of routine. Was this the same as the car used on Kyle of Lochalsh in the 1960s - happy memories!

Both Car 13 (currently at the Paignton & Dartmouth) and Car 14 (owned by the Swanage Railway Trust) were transferred to the Scottish Region after the cessation of the Devon Belle (and a short period on charter services) to work services from Inverness to the Kyle and Glasgow to Oban; I think (!) Car 13 was renumbered M280M and Car 14 was renumbered SC281.

Car 14/SC281 will be running on the West Somerset Railway shortly under a recent agreement with the Swanage Railway Trust.

I knew negotiations were ongoing, as previously they had been with the Bluebell, I wasn't prepared to say any further as at this stage I didn't know the latest. Thanks for the update.

The 2 2-8-0s will now stay in for the rest of the season. There is only our peak timetable for 6 days and a mid peak timetable for a further week.

7827 is at Churston works to start our "winter" maintenence plan.

No problem with heavy firework specials then!!
By the way, any plans to mark the death of the Red Arrows pilot. Red wreath on the smokebox bracket perhaps?

Does anyone know which loco will be in service on Saturday 3rd? The website shows it as only one train in service. 4277 would be nice ;)
    TIA

Alas, visit to WSR now cancelled, due to the condition of the coach.

Just an update on what I saw the other day with 7827's boiler.
Seems to me that it is boiler work, as there seems to be some new stays fitted all nice & bright in the sun as I passed on one of the service train today !
If wrong i'm sure someone from the railway on here will tell me !
