Based on some of the manoeuvering I saw at Carnforth last Saturday, when 45699 and 48151 arrived within a few minutes of each other, with 45699 reversing into the shed first, I would guess at it being 48151 (pure speculation of course)

S&C shut or at least SLW due to broken down freight, suggested that its being run to Carnforth for steam to be added then up WCML to Carlisle (hence why the light move to Hellifield is not needed), possibly coming back as planned down S&C?

No idea if that is the case, but that is what has been suggested.

Diesel leg diverted via Copy Pit, so Carnforth seems the likely destination for a run over Shap.

Any updates? Looking at the Northern website it looks as though the S and C is still out of commission this afternoon with trains being turned round at Appleby.

I think hurtle is pushing it a bit...

But pat on the back for WCRC for having a workable contingency and especially NR for pathing a 50 mph path on the WCML at such short notice?

Seems to have got to Carlisle at 1528 (c. 1hr down) and due out at 1629 so only an hour in Carlisle (I will leave others to comment whether this is a good or a bad thing), but a long day out for all!

Could have done with BIL today. Two hours from Carnforth to Carlisle was par for the course with the 8F, presumably looped at Grayrigg and Penrith. The 1518 Leeds to Carlisle is currently shown as running throughout so maybe the S and C will be open for them.

Is your info more up to date than the RTT & Northern websites which are both showing all service trains cancelled on the S&C including the 1619 ex Carlisle.

edit - I wonder if there wasn't a unit at Carlisle to form the 1619 departure. As you rightly state , the ex Leeds train you mention is running.
