    Does anyone have a specification for the cast iron used for casting pistons for locomotives?. Not bothered which company or manufacturer, mainline or industrial.

    I have a traction engine, and the drawings are rather vague, naming the material as 'Cast Iron'.

    LMA Handbook gives BS1452 Gr 12 for cast iron pistons.
