Am I right in thinking I heard somewhere that these strikes are actually only going to be for a few hours in the morning, and a few in the evening, just to catch the rush hour commuters.......

Apparently the RMT strikes are from 6am-10am and 6pm-10pm each day. But I would imagine that the effect would be to leave trains out of position so there will be knock on effects throughout the day.

Hopefully GBIII could be retimed around those times?
As a booked passenger for the Moonraker I'm relieved that Saturday 3rd is okay, but I hope something can be sorted for everyone involved with RTC's tour.

There was something to tonights Evening Standard about Network Rail mounting a legal challenge to the strike due to alledged irregularities in the ballot process.

Whatever the outcome I hope that the tours next week can run.

    Regards,

    Dan

I should think the Royal Duchy will go ahead, too. At least 70013 and 30777 will be in position if and when GBIII kicks off.

Tours will be the first thing to be cancelled during a strike, as they are a non-essential service. They will prefer to run whatever passenger service they can.

That said, NR have to compensate TOCs so some money should be repaid to the operator.

Oh I don't know Steam Dreams provided an essential service to those stranded commuters a few months ago!!!

Being serious though, given the low drain on NR resources (ie bobbies for the boxes) I would imagine that if any service is running then the railtours will be too. Ok I accept there could be less paths available but from what I understand the TOC's are planning to operate a basic scaled down service so although there will be fewer paths there will also be less demand for them so hopefully there will still be enough capacity for all!

There is an extremely high drain of NR resources at the moment! TOC's are operating fewer services because there aren't any signallers (as they are on strike) so the few managers are staffing the boxes! I bet you a virtual £10 that tours will not run during the strike period.

There's being realistic and optimistic. I am being realistic.

Pete - if I had £10 I would :( but money is very tight.

The strike has been called off today. Is there time to reinstate the original plans or is it too late to change now? Wouldn't it be great if everythings runs as scheduled before the strike was announced. I can always dream I guess.

It seems that the prospect of 44871 and 70013 up Lickey is going to take precedence over the original route.
