What is going on is a good title, anyone explain?.
On UK we have it leaving on April 29th.then another date,May 3rd.
It's going backwards and forwards to Windsor, part by diesel, then steam, twice.

Has anyone else seen this move, perhaps Im on some sort of medication or something, doesn't make sense.

I presume its something to do with the racecourse who appear to have an event on that day.

What's unusual about a Private Charter running from Victoria to Windsor twice in a day?
Nothing to do with 70013, except it's more money in the coffers for a fine engine.

Victoria to Windsor twice and Windsor to Victoria twice. Both directions for photography. A long day out. Great.

From what I understand the PAYING passengers will be steam hauled in either direction. The ECS movements will be diesel hauled with 70013 at the rear to ensure that when the passengers are on board they will be getting hauled by the engine they have paid for.
This charter is over exceptionally busy lines even on a Bank Holiday. If anyone can come up with a better soloution consult your track diagrams and working time tables and contact Network Rail with the answer.

If you are thinking of going to Victoria or Windsor be warned.... The Brownies tend to get excited at seeing a steam engine. :cheer2:
I speak from the experience we had last year when 4965 did two runs for them between Birmingham and Stratford Upon Avon. :)

In all seriousness, this seems to be an absolutely brilliant day arranged for the guides and hopefully will be a social and enjoyable day out to remember. They might even get history lessons on Oliver Cromwell ! Great stuff

It looks quite an interesting day out for them; I'm kind of jealous because of the route its taking... When was the last time that steam ran into Windsor Riverside? I seem to recall an event in the last ten years, but I may be wrong.

I recall that the MHR Ivatt ran some trains from Staines to Windsor in March 2000.I think the train was called the "March Hare".
