    Nice work Mattie. I think the idea of painting the toilet block in more sympathetic colours is a good one.

    Heya Mattie,

    Nice work as always. I would advise caution about the sole use of 'red oxide' underneath the edging strip. Unless it contains zinc, 'red oxide' is just a colour of primer now rather than doing anything to prevent corrosion, and primer itself tends to be porous, so will let moisture in. You would need to add a gloss coat to help protect against moisture, before putting the edging strip back on.

    Similarly, paints like modern Hammerite have next to no anti-corrosion properties compared to the products of old.

    (unless I'm wrong, in which case I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me)

    Corbs, The red oxide we use is a red oxide in the true sence and a weather seal of MP20 has also been smeared over the jointing surfaces. We don't use hammerite or any water based paints.
