    It was the Boeing 737 crash at Kegworth; the reasons for misidentification of the fire were more complex than the above post suggests.

    Yes, I wondered whether he was referring to Kegworth, but it seems to be a somewhat unusual summary of the incident. I think the Paris / Turkish Airlines DC10 crash in 1974 has rather greater relevance to railway operations.
