Running from Leeds and York. And when I booked, seats now released and available in all classes all dates except the first run.

Have you tried actually making a booking? It took my money and gave me a booking ref for 4 Sept last night. It still looks bookable that day right now. Obviously we know the site as a whole is a weird and wonderful thing. I'll let you know if I get a 'Terribly sorry' email.......

I was just beginning to wonder about timings and whether it would be possible to start from London and join the train at York, but looked no further when I saw "fully booked".

I have now looked: while it's quite a late start from York, it's also a late arrival back, far too late for a train back to London.

Its even too late for a local back to Keighley for Haworth from Leeds, or York for that matter, shame they couldn't pick up / set down on the Aire valley.

We'll just have to see the confirmed times and how it runs on the day. Bailing out at York in favour of TPE may yet be an option. But I agree, as it stands the dash for the taxi queue at Leeds is going to be interesting!

The 11/6 one is a different 'Tynesider'. It's to be 60103. The one tomorrow is allocated to 45690 and was scheduled in addition to the 11th June one. Tomorrow's run seems to have vanished. A pity. I'd liked to have seen Leander. We don't get enough action north of the Tyne.

Typical case of RTC doing half a job with their information, I honestly hoped they would have learned by now, but obviously not, with a major change of route and timings such as this case, it would seem that a large proportion of the previous bookings for the S&C run, cannot now travel, hence the large tranche of available seating now on sale.

RTC are in the process of adding tours to the website to the end of the year. Tours for September and early October have been added, and further tours can be seen from select tour on booking form - see http://www.railwaytouring.co.uk/bookings/BookingForm_UK.aspx?Action=New.
Prices are going up particulary the DartmouthExpress.
Generally the usual tours execept Cheshireman on 10/9 Norwich to Chester, amd the Bognor Belle in December.

Ouch! £135 Standard Class? almost 29% increase over the 11th June's train. Makes the Torbay Express via Westbury seem a real bargain. Get your bookings in...

The Dartmouth Express might not be all down to the RTC. You have the diesel charter to and from Westbury, the loco movement to and from Westbury from wherever plus the heritage line charter charge and the ferry. It's quite a pricey combination that the TbEx is not.

Ouch, but understandable, as this is the way the market's been going for years- it's good that RTC have managed to hold out for so long against major price increases.

From a personal standpoint, it presents an opportunity for a reality check, as changing circumstances means that I won't be able to afford to do these tours as regularly as I've done in recent years. The onus will be on me to be much more selective, particularly if tours such as the Sussex Belle have gone up by 30 quid.

Regardless, it was fun while it lasted, and I feel I made more than enough hay whilst the sun shone. Hopefully the coming winter will be mild in my case, and I'll be able to do a few more than one a year...
