I guess RTC is trying to source a replacement loco for this. It has already been postponed once, so one would assume they are relctant to pospone it a second time.
70013 also pulled from Bluebell gala - see http://www.national-preservation.co...of-steam-28th-30th-october-2016.780235/page-2 and scroll down.

It's a long day, measured from when the stock leaves Southall and the journey home will be in the dark. It wouldn't surprise me to see it cancelled. I suspect that WCRC would be pleased to see it go.

I Fear you could be right, Al, although I hope not. With Ollie not available and no Bulleids either, the options for anything running via Hamble are very limited indeed. The Riley Black Fives will have returned to England after their stint on the Jacobite. There doesn't seem to be anything else which could work this train.

Postponed due to engineering works: most probably in the Salisbury area (National Rail website). Shame, to get down to Three Bridges on the 3rd it would have to go via Quarry (rare?) not Redhill (more works).

Email from RTC offering discount on a number of trips states Braunton will haul this trip.

Speaking of the Black Fives to Cardiff, tempted by this Itinery with the somewhat rare routing in places, two questions though:

    1) Is it Steam throughout ?

    2) Any chance of unassisted on the Lickey with 2 loco's ?.

    From the RTC website. <BJ>

''Our route will run through Worcestershire and the Malvern Hills to Hereford and then onwards along the Welsh Marches line to Newport and Cardiff. We will be steam hauled throughout by two Black 5 steam locomotives''.

''The highlight of the return trip will undoubtedly be the climb up the formidable gradient of the Lickey incline with our two Black 5's, which will require an all out effort from our locomotives''.

And with Leckwith triangle in Cardiff, the whole train can be turned relatively easily and serviced in the vicinity of Canton Depot.

Unfortunately I don't think turning here is feasible anymore, since a vital crossover at the southside of the triangle at Grangetown has been removed. Most steam turning moves these days involve using the Maindee triangle at Newport.

    A bit of a short-sighted move.

Anyway, now booked on it, so hope it runs predominantly as planned. Glad I waited for a bit to obtain the £10 discount.

Lightest loaded train I've seen in years. Guess they couldn't be bothered to split the rake. Should give the 47 a credit in the title as it did plenty of shoving.

Surprised that the train was not stopped because of the Class 47 showing the wrong tail lights. (See Peterborough departure or is that just a video aberration?)

Trick of the camera - look at the red signal on the left at the end and it's not very red.

Oh dear - trial by YouTube yet again! Not guilty Your Honor. Both tail lights are correctly displayed and show exactly the same red color as the signals in the video.

Now are we sure that that kitchen car wasn't giving some assistance - it seemed to be making more noise than the diesel loco! (sorry - wrong thread I guess)

Are we sure it wasn't under power heating the train,
but in all seriousness, with a diesel on the back its gonna attempt to carry its weight rather then put extra strain on the locomotive on the other end,
