    From the Great Western Trust collection this takes you back exactly 65 years to 18 March 1960 and the naming at Swindon Works of the last steam locomotive built for British Railways, No 92220 ‘Evening Star’:

    A grab from a YouTube 'Pathe' video found yesterday 'Banks and Braes'. . Worth a watch even if a bit of a shortbread tin view of the land beyond the wall.
    From the railway point of view the end of reel 1 and start of reel 2 have views around the bridge.

    Accompanying this is a shot of my own from the top of the north cantilever last year, courtesy of an event in support of Barnardo's Scotland.
    I got to go up in the hoist thankfully, some things have changed for the better.
