    Yes it would be wonderful but for the reason's expressed above it isn't going to be possible at least for a very long time. The best we of this generation can expect is to see them under cover at places like Ringway. Those which are outside are very soon going to be fit only for scrap.

    However ... that is for now. It was only thirty years ago that the first UK restorations of warbirds took place and as the wealth of the nation has increased so has the numbers of these aeroplanes increased. It is now just possible, just, to see privately owned Dakotas in the air and one day it might be possible to see a Connie or a Viscount.

    So who knows? As I see it it is primarily a question of finance and I'm ever hopeful. This generation needs to ensure that these aeroplanes are preserved, the next, or the one after that, might be able to get them back into the air. I won't see it, but my grandson might.
