I see in Railway Magazine that altered RMB 1881 has been sold to the Brighton Belle group.

Anyone know from where it was brought and why the Brighton Belle Group would want it?

    Regards
    Chris

    Hi Will
Is this 48004 that was reported as going to Capability Barns, nr Fen Drayton in January from Llangollen? It's the only SLO I know that was at Llangollen, although they do have a few other suburban variants.

Pass. I am going up to the NNR on friday. As long as its not been put in Bridge Road carriage sheds yet I will have a look at it and try and establish its identity.

    According to OTPgen yahoo group:

"Apparently Allelys are moving a crane from Tyseley to Sims at Halesowen for scrap - ADB139 looks the likely candidate?
    http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/ADB139"

If this is the case, are there any groups interesting in saving this?

Yes, the SLO coming to the NNR is ex-Llangollen 48004. This will give us a full Mk1 suburban set of BS (x2), CL (x2), S, and now an SLO. 48004 needs lots of TLC as do our existing examples. However, the aim is to launch an appeal to restore a four or five car set. Not sure why it was reported as going to Capability Barns as we've been in negotiation with Derby Council and Llangollen about this for some time. Even going to the extent of having the asbestos removed before it leaves Llangollen.

The underframe of LNWR 3061, more recently electrification coach LDM395328 arrived at Havenstreet Isle of Wight on the 20th May from Brechin. The underframe is to be used as a source of spares for the IWSR's fleet of Brighton bogie carriages. The remains of the body were removed at Brechin before transport to the Isle of Wight.

Seen heading north on the M1 mid afternoon today was an unrestored bogie coach; from brief glimpse was timber bodied construction. Any ideas on what and where going?

Not yet reported is Ransomes & Rapier 45t steam crane ADRR95210 (originally numbered 1561S), which arrived at Swanage from Southall on 1 December 2011.

I understand its overhaul is in an advanced state.

1951 Pullman 1st class Kitchen car "Carina" (a former Golden Arrow vehicle and part of Winston Churchill's funeral train) has moved from the NYMR to the Bluebell Railway, arriving yesterday. The vehicle is owned by the 5-Bel Trust.

This vehicle will eventually be a replacement for the Bluebell-owned ex-Brighton Belle carriage "Doris". The 5-Bel trust have agreed to renovate Carina at their expense up to an equivalent standard as Doris currently is; at that point, ownership of the two vehicles will be swapped. In that way, the Bluebell get another Pullman Kitchen car that was built for steam haulage and has authentic Golden Arrow pedigree; the 5-Bel trust get a 1st class vehicle (which they were lacking) that has authentic Brighton Belle pedigree. Clearly this is a better heritage outcome, as well as being technically simpler and cheaper, than the Bluebell converting Doris to be steam hauled.

A green class 117 unit seen at Marsh Mills roundabout, Plymouth this morning; presumably the Plym Valley's unit returning from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway?
