It's such a shame that WCRC didn't make use of Tangmere on 9th July for the Cathedrals Express charter
from London to Weymouth rather than haul the train with a diesel. <BJ>

    From 'uksteam'.
    'THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS'.

61306 failed FTR, now diesel throughout.

Hehe, no of course I wouldn't want it to be without Steam...! If I was riding on the train I'd be happy with anything Steam! I'd just like to photograph something exotic on my home turf!!

200 miles to see anything different, I work a lot in London so 200 miles most of the time before I start work..I think I'm a grumpy old man at the age of 33!

A nice thought but I don't recall Carnforth happily letting their locos out of sight all that often and in the current circumstances that seems even less likely.

I'll have to let this discussion drop due to the fact that I don't have a clue what this guy is talking about. <BJ>

We don't know yet if 46100 will be on WCRC's books do we? And didn't the Trust state that it wouldn't mainline until it's properly run in after the virtually total dismantling and rebuild to get all the alignments true after the fairly disastrous earlier attempt? We'll be lucky to see her before the autumn I suspect.

I'm just saying wait to see what's on the front of the first one.
The Devon banks are set to be alive with the sound of sulzer.

Steady rain for 50% of the day in Somerset. More rain due on Thursday night and Friday.
Hope the rain in the west country is enough to prevent another ban on main line steam. <BJ>

Anyone found any timings for the first Duchy this Sunday? I guess Tangmere is the engine as it didn't go back to Southall after the 'boxed' Weymouth. Hope the load is sensible and Tangmere will be allowed to run unassisted.

Provisional times are on UK steam if you click to the immediate right of the ROYAL DUCHY name for 2nd August.

Thanks. Saw them but they seem to assume the times will be the same as lsst year. Fairly safe assumption one would think but RTT usually has the times on the system to be activated as and when like the Torbay Express. The paths look to be there. Anyone had tickets and have details of the load?

They are the times from RTT for the 5 July train which was eventually cancelled. The times sent out by RTC with the tickets for 2 August are identical.

Thanks for that. They are up on RTT now with the corresponding diesel move into the bay as last year, so looks good for steam only day.

Wonder if it will be 8 or 9? The July train was going to be 8, playing safe with the WCRC performance issue. 9 was the load last year.

According to the timings, Tornado will overtake Tangmere at Exeter St Davids at 11:15 during its water stop. A rare photo/video opportunity maybe?
