The Spa Valley will be running an Eridge service, however due to a wedding booking (made before it was declared a bank holiday) on the line there is an adapted timetable in operation with a slight gap mid afternoon

From what I gather the only service running at the Bluebell will be a pre-booked "Bluebell special" with the observation car, no other public service (at least nothing more that I know of). RHDR running a green timetable I believe.

The North Norfolk Railway will also be running it's demonstration goods set hauled by a Diesel Locomotive on Sunday 1st May, as-well as it's red service.

The steam times are the same, i.e. 11am, 1pm and 3pm off Alresford, but the DMU times have changed, 29 minutes later than normal in one case.

The Hayling Seaside Railway will be running trains this Friday, as well as the weekend and Bank Holiday Monday. There will be a few decorations out for the day of the Royal Wedding, and 2 trains could be out over the four days, if the weather, numbers of volunteers, and passenger numbers allow.

Thanks for this. I am now tempted to go on Monday instead as they have 31806 and 73096 operating the services plus the vintage bus services in use from Medstead.

Swanage Railway marks the royal wedding with a special head code.

To mark the Royal Wedding on the 29th April, the service locomotive ( 34070 Manston ) will be running with 2 Union flags (instead of the Union flag and the French Tricolore as on the Golden Arrow). We will be using the Golden Arrow flag poles.

We will be running with the flags on the middle buffer beam bracket and with two white discs, one over each buffer. This head code will run on the 29th and then on 30th of April and 1st May.

73096 worked an early morning photo charter at MHR today, then the service trains. 31806 was doing a driver experience, and the DMMU was out on the other service trains. Very eerie pulling out of the car park at Alresford at 11.30 and there not being a soul to be seen in the high street! It was like a ghost town.

How did these railways do on the Wedding Day? Worth running a service or a dead loss?

  12. The WSR was due to operate anyway (daily running from 9 Apr until 6 Oct) and I gather passenger numbers were as expected for a Friday in late April. So the wedding seems to have made little difference.

Don't forget many people have taken the week off and gone away on holiday to places such as Somerset. And others will be not that interested in the wedding though grateful for the day off.

The SVR had a good day on friday for the overcast weather. The usual busy trains were busy.

Whoops! I fell for the mistake on the MHR website. The vintage buses are running today and not Monday. News item on the website says Monday 1st May. I will still be down tommorrow though.

The North Norfolk Railway was busy, with London Transport (L99 or GWR 7715 57xx) carrying the royal headcode on it's passenger services.

A healthy attendance at the MHR yesterday in very windy conditions. Black 5 45379 was making light work of her four coach load and 31806 was making rather more fuss on the five coach load she had. It seems the drain cock was playing up again. Good day out though with the crew of the Black 5 making her bark very loudly on the banks.
