The website has new tours from May to October that have been added.

    see http://www.railwaytouring.net/uk_day_trips

No Scarbrough Flyers but still the Waverleys.

    Motive power includes 6023, 61306, and 35018.

There's one or two that interest me amongst the new bunch, but most of may weekend days out will take place during the first half of the year. I notice on uksteaminfo that 45699 is no longer in the frame for January.

Possibly as a result of the gauging problem on the route not yet being resolved.

A few trips of interest on the RTC site. They really need to check the text they put on there though as they have 4464 in one of the loco pools. The Swanage trips with 61306 are a bit expensive though, getting near SD silly prices. Dorset Coast Express programme has also returned with the pool consisting of 34067, 35018 & 70013. Let's hope they have better luck with these runs next year.

...and Bittern features in the West Somerset pool........ To be fair though, it is extremely difficult to get hold of good proof readers.

5029 and 4464 both off the mainline by the end of this year. No sign of 35018, and 6023 doesn't appear to be getting close to a mainline test run. 70013 needs new tyres, so might be out for a while. Not looking promising for most of the summer programme then!

6023 - The GWS are targeting April and GBVIII according to the lastest Echo ( November) in a report of the 20/9/14 AGM. They have not offered the loco to anyone for mainline running.

I have not seen 46100 listed and that might actually return in the Summer.

Getting back to the new tours

I glad to see the Royal Wessex being run again. I did not believe it would actually go on the line Fareham - Hamble - St Denys, ( the previous one have been cancelled or rerouted), so I will be booking that one.

The East Yorkshireman is very tempting since it would be a lot of new track for me. I notice there is a pick up at Hathersage, I wonder who that is for ? ;)

I think there should be a little more enthusiasm about King Edward II making some of these tours that she has been advertised for. The sadness of the Nunney situation shall be reflected because it just happened recently. Even that is reflected in The Great Britain tour. 4079, 4472, 6100, 6201 are all locomotives that are nearlng completion in overhaul but not advertised. Much tweeking and quite a bit of work. Cosidering a tour up Shap and S&C routes with 46115 in Early June.

I had a look round the LNWR workshop at CHC recently and was glad to see the progress being made.

MInd you, it will make a change. While 44871, 35028, 60163 and 30777 have all run through to Swanage from the national network, most of the through workings with both SD and RTC have tended to feature 44932, 34067 or 70013
Yes indeed. Any news of the turntable at Weymouth? Being able to run steam both ways would enhance the appeal of these trains, one would expect.
I wonder if RTC (or SD) will run a one-off to launch 35018 when it is finally ready. Still, as no one yet knows when this is going to be, we'll have to wait and see

A blast up the northern hills seems to be the usual baptism of fire for anything emerging from Carnforth, but its a question of booking the right thing at the right time...

I expect the one on the Swanage Railway at Herston will be installed long before the one at Weymouth. Who will pay the bill for installing one at Weymouth including the track and signalling alterations ? How much did the one at York cost to install ?

Full of errors and contradictions. RTC don't need a proof reader; they need somebody who knows the lines being used and what is practical plus a knowledge of what is happening to engines. 5029 is off for some years now, 4464 off the main line etc etc. But as always I will take this as just an outline guide. Notice the Southern farewell trip on 9th July. This year Steam Dreams are ahead of game and advertising a 0955 departure from Waterloo, presumably to Yeovil and then to Weymouth for a (fast?) run back.
