A very last-minute trip to tick off the Camp Hill line across the Southern suburbs of Birmingham. I very much enjoyed the climb of the Lickey on the return. The amount of ash in the carriage testified to the work the locomotive was putting in. I didn't get the sense that the 57 was doing much more than necessary to keep the train moving, while the non-stop run through Bromsgrove helped proceedings. A nice way for me to end 2021.

Although the sub 3 and 3/4 minute time shown on RTT for the 2 mile 19 chains from Bromsgrove to Blackwell if accurate may imply some reasonable rear end assistance as well. Was that not around the times for the two unassisted 7 coach runs last month?

Not being a fan of "museum condition" locos, great to see some apparent dirt giving at least the tender an "in service look".

Now that is what you call lucky, or photo bombed if you want a pan shot.
A friend who was stewarding said there was a ballast train they kept passing and re passing, I suspect this was the one.

Here's my footage of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland heading to and from Worcester yesterday. I filmed her in the glorious winter sunshine at Salwarpe Foot Crossing and the gorgeous evening sunset at Ladywood. I hope you enjoy the video.

Sounds like the Duchess has been allowed to do plenty of the work herself on this trip.

44871 was on time through Spalding. It sounded good and was working hard, no sign of pushing from the rear.
