Only noticed yesterday the the first Swanage Belle was shown as steam on the way back (i.e. out via Laverstock Junction, Diesel from Southampton like a DCE) unusually, the second one being the usual steam into Swanage.
Of course unsure if we would have any decent rain by then or if the Grange Road Bridge would still be ECS only at the end of June.

Has Tangmere recovered from its recent illness yet?

If not, is there any idea of what might be hauling this Saturday's Edinburgh Flyer?

    Thanks.

At least it's steam, but I was hoping a bit that Tangmere feeling under the weather recently might lead to something else.

Tangmere at the head of ‘The Edinburgh Flyer’. A good old lash up of Maroon and Blue & Grey Stock, with a B&G MK1 Buffet Restaurant in as well.

There doesn't look to be a lot of coal in that tender!

There was a lineside fire this evening between Edinburgh and Berwick reported shortly after the train passed, however I can find no concrete evidence that it was caused by 34067. The only similarity is the timing of train and fire report

Sadly theres a video on facebook of the train going through Northallerton last night with flames shooting out of 34067s chimney.

I saw that and it still doesn’t sound anything like a Bulleid should.

Flames coming out of a loco chimney:eek:? That's a new one on me! I think you may just be over exaggerating a tad there my friend:).

Anyway there was nothing in the way of fires reported to the train crew and as instructed the loco was worked pretty gently throughout. The fire brigade was called out at one point but that was at Joppa while the loco was being serviced. Someone had seen smoke rising from the depot and had called the fire service. They were amused to find it was only a steam engine and proceeded to pose for photographs on the engine.

With a steam ban on the NW zone implemented from yesterday Tangmere is staying at York for the time being and the stock is returning diesel hauled to Carnforth this afternoon.

As I say above Peter the only coincidence is the fire on the Edinburgh to Berwick section that occurred shortly after 34067 passed but nothing concrete other than timings linking the two.

I see rain is forecast next week to ease the burden a little.

Certainly this clip which I randomly found on a Google search shows no sparks, let alone flames. Nice looking sunset though.

In response to the comment from @2857Harry about the set, I feel that apart from the being Mk2's the mixture of maroon and blue grey is all very end of BR steam, certainly from the pictures in books I have of the final couple of months. Personally I rather like it (but then I also prefer dirty engines to clean as well.)

Having watched it on TV several times I can agree with @Gladiator 5076 no flames or sparks.

Had a email off R.T.C. saying today the Buxton spa is now running again on the 8 June Sunday guys. Steam is advertised to attach at barrow hill It says this time and not Humberstone Rd on the outward run.

I gather the Tynesider (7/6/25) has been postponed because of a late engineering possession. Given that this was , I believe, 'third time lucky' to run the trip, the RTC really is out of luck with this tour.

There is optimism that another date can be found. We shall see.
