Well, that's the 9th of July... First post gives departure time for 6 July, though detailed timings not yet on RTT. I happen to be on both, so good to know 9 July is in the system barring usual caveats.

On either of those days is Clan Line due to be out ? It would be magical if by chance 35018 and 35028 Just happened to be at Victoria at the same time on the same day.

Off to Stratford (upon Avon) on the 10th. That's the closest they will get.

The historic bit is that it will be the first time 35018 has hauled a passenger train on its home metals since 1964.

There aren't many trips that have steam at the front from Weymouth and a direct run back via Winchester, rather than steam at the back, a reversal near Southampton and home via Grateley.

Edit: That is the 9th July trip, not the one that this thread is nominally about, though both have been mentioned.

pity the tour operator couldn't have got the U Boat to head the Yeovil to Weymouth section, then bank the tour as far as Wareham

The U is currently having work carried out on it at Herston.

Might have something to do with the fact that the U has not got any wheels under it at present. Nice idea though.

Tuesday 9th is going to be "Busy at Barnes" with 35018 passing through twice and 61306 four times!
And they say it's difficult to find steam paths on the Southern on a weekday . . . .

Given that BIL is only rostered for two trains whist its down here, i'm surprised that other rail tour companies didn't enquire about its availability ? Steam Dreams for instance, same company providing motive power, or was this special dispensation for RTC only and only as a once off, i'm sure passengers waiting for Mayflower wouldn't mind to much if there was a last minute substitution and somthing a different shade of Green just happened to be at the country end .
