I wish to thank 17f and T bird frank for there comments about the retiming of these trains.I was intending to buy a ticket this weekend but the extended schedule has put me off.
Perhaps if more people did this then the TOC would think again about what it acceptable for the ticket price.
At least people that chase these trains can now get a fair number of shots during the day and can come and go when they please rather than being imprisoned all day waiting for right time.

As 6201's chief engineer he must have thoroughly enjoyed that .

It was one of those magic days when everything was right with the world . The sun shone , Staniers finest reigned supreme in the North West , Lovely maroon sets of stock (pullman excluded (is it one of tyseley's))

Who would have thought it is almost 50 years ago that Princess's were withdrawn , 46 years since 46115 came out of service

I just feel a little guilty I didn't go and see 44932 but you can't do everythng

I don't think so Tyseley's are all in the proper Pullman livery. WCRC has a few maroon Mk 1 pullmans in their rakes.

Absolutely - one must look after the inner man - seriously - have you ever noticed that its the keep fit, not an ounce of fat types, that seem to fall victim to strokes and heart attacks - probably something to do with nervous energy etc. Statistically I should be in the frame, but the doc seems perfectly happy, as he is with some others on here with whom I can "talk shop"

Friday I'm aiming for the Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court - they have some great nosh stalls - especially the "Crusty Pie Co" from Bradford - and I might still get back in time to have a go at the Scarborough Flyer - unless the weather is as dreich as they are forecasting

The choc & cream pullman in the Scarborough Spa Express set (which was the set used with 46115 on Saturday) has a couple of Vintage Trains notices in it, so you are probably right.

Seems a bit of a coaching stock merry go round at the moment, isn't the First Class Mk1 in the VT rake a Riveira Trains vehicle ?.

Sell photos to the MEN (spit!) not so and so likely! and we saw no-one else up there last Friday - so probably the shot was from the Friday before when we were both at the Plaza.

Cheaper than £13.95 - on Curry Mile - that must take a lot of finding. I remember the old Sanam - Alsation Byriani!

Best in Manchester by a country mile - the Desi Lounge in Failsworth, or - handy for the Buffet Bar - Curry Cottage, or Curry Lounge, (mind you - they look after the car when we go) We tried Stalybridge Celtic's "Bower Fold Spice Centre the other night - very good indeed!

British - The Diggle Hotel - just the place after a tunnel bash, Tim Taylors and Ham n Eggs - smashing!

Chinese - need advice - I'm well out of that market these days

Italian - no contest - Casa Italia - Stanley Street, Liverpool - in a league of its own

I understand that there were some unhappy people the other Saturday, 5305 with the CME over Shap caused some delays, especially to the Stobart/Tesco freight. Up Shap particularly, since the speed was in the low 20's for quite a bit of the climb, and then once over the summit being a 60mph limited loco did not help. This is not a criticism of 5305, more the powers to be for allowing her to get into that unfortunate position.

On the two occasions it has run so far the CME has been released from the Carnforth water stop directly in front of the Tesco Express.

This is crazy. The Tesco train is a flagship service with 6700 hp of class 92 on the front.

Perhaps tomorrow it will get priority.

Presuming we're talking about last Saturday, the 30th July, there are no signs that 5305 held up 4S43 at all. The train was booked into Mossend late but there is nothing major going up the WCML, only a few minutes here and there.

The railtour hasn't been 'released' into the path of the freight, as you seem to suggest, it's been 'released' into its own path which is ahead of the freight service.
