Nice shot - lucky with the rain ! Can't make my mind up whether to head out to Ais Gill/Ribblehead for the return - weather looks very dodgy!

Passed Ribblehead in a thunderstorm about 12.38. I managed to see45305 north of Carnforth, followed by 48151 at Arnside, then 44932 crossing Batty Moss viaduct. Not bad, 3 mainline steam tours in less than 2 hours!

Unusual to see a Pendolino in Platform Six at Lime St - Virgin will not be happy as Platform Seven is their designated platform which the tour train is departing from.

Really nice to see that 45305 has got an "8A" (Edge Hill) shed plate which is appropriate for these railtour's. However, she was not ever allocated to Edge Hill although had stabled at the shed in late BR days. Records indicate she was allocated to Speke Junction (8C) late 1967 / early 1968.

We used that platform for the departure for the first one 2 weeks ago but returned to 8. I seem to remember that the Coast to Coast also used 7.

Indeed. It may of interest to know that at 1105 the Tesco was at Harrison's sidings while 45305 was at Grayrigg.

Fair play for getting Olive Mount and Carr Mill Austin. I went to Edge Hill, then drove to Carr Mill but got there just as the train went over the viaduct. Not helped by missing a turn and ending up driving through St Helens!

Fine shots Austin, that one in the cutting is really spectacular, almost an aerial view.
Being 45 minutes early just goes to show how slack the schedule is!!!
