I thought 70013 was out of gauge for hope valley ?
(a few years back I was on a tour from london Victoria to Manchester up the MML that was diverted to Sheffield days prior as the NR gauging train detected an overbridge too low for it to pass under along this section.)

I thought that at the time of the previously mentioned tour. Mr Shuttleworth commented on 70013 being tight to gauge whatever that means in detail ?

Usually severe speed restrictions as clearances must be tight.

Pathfinder have cancelled their 16 Feb tour due to a weak bridge on Sheffield-Huddersfield line peventing loco hauled trains using it until 2014.Tin Bath ?

It was but it might have changed since 2009. David - Uk Steam mentioned recently in another thread of restriction(s) to other lines that were no longer in place. I am hoping 70013 is now gauged for this route since I want to travel along the Hope Valley by steam.

Some interesting looking tours there although a few of them seem to rely on the appearance of 34046 on the main line. Double-headed Bulleids over the Devon banks sounds good if it happens. Interesting to note that Steam Dreams and RTC are planning on running a double header to Plymouth in consecutive weeks - wonder whether they'll manage to fill them both? Looks like both companies are trying to run a number of tours through Reading while they still can.

Routes that were out of gauge can be back in gauge if p-way has been undertaken, I went to Buxton a couple of years ago, but 45305 is more gauge friendly.

The problem is not a bridge on the Penistone line but a tunnel between Barnsley and Meadowhall. I don’t know if the gauging problem exists in both directions through the tunnel but “The Tin Bath” is booked to go in the opposite direction to “The Aire Valley Raider”. If the problem does exist in both directions whilst I wouldn’t want a diesel on the back of “The Tin Bath” all day surely the steam could be diverted from Sheffield via Swinton and Moorthorpe to Wakefield Kirkgate where a diesel could be attached to the other end and tow the train to Barnsley via Darton. The diesel could be detached again at Barnsley. The train could reverse again here and the steam resume its route via Penistone.

A Bulleid each way on the LSWR on April 7th appeals greatly so hope to be booking that if domestic duties allow.

Wouldn't say no to the above nor the 'ACE'. Some good-looking trips there.

It is interesting yes, but "The Welsh Borders" on Sunday 4 May appears to have dropped off RTC's website already. Hopefully it'll return in due course ??

One reason perhaps being that 4th May is a Saturday!

It included Worcester - Hereford in the route and I though Steam was banned from this route. Do not remember the reason.
