Royal Duchy on 25th August cancelled according to http://uksteam.info/tours/trs13.htm#twk . This trip had already replaced a Weymouth Seaside Express on the same day which had also been cancelled.

My video of 34046's inaugural railtour - The Dorset Coast Express. Caught at Potbridge, Micheldever and Brokenford bridge in Totton on the outward, then Totton station, Test Lane, Whitchurch, Hook and Winchfield. Wonderful to see her out and about at last! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtCNCCsZy2c

The curse of locomotive unavailability struck again. 34067 was the allocated engine which hasn't emerged from repair at Carnforth. 70013 wasn't available either. As someone who was booked on it I'm glad the locomotive situation was sorted early enough for the train to be cancelled.

Aren't Nunney or Braunton available now? There is no Torbay Express on this day.

I suspect it will be support crew who are not available.

The Royal Wessex has been redated from the 21st September to 28th Spetember. The brochure said it would be hauled one way by 34067 ( rather than 30777 as website) and the other by 340406. 34046 was aleady shown as working another trip on the 21st. Both locos are potentially available ( subject to support crews being available) on the 28th September. The loco hauling the down train might haul the Royal Duchy the following day?

I wonder if 70013 will haul the trip with 34067 the following week (instead of a B1 or a Black 5) ? It would make more sense to use a loco that has been previously been gauged for the route, and would save on the need for a light engine movement.

So the RTC is still trying to run something to the Bluebell on a Saturday when the line has two services operating instead of when there is only one service (as with the mid week Steam Dreams option). Well I just hope that the Bluebell is up for this, assuming that they don't revise down their own timetable, as I don't recall that a 'two service' day leaves any room for playing around with a visiting charter at East Grinstead, in particular.

Just received a letter regarding my booking for the rescheduled Devonian on the 14th September. Now cancelled, due to the number of cancellations from it's rescheduling. :(:( I was looking forward to that run.

However there new brochure has turned up. Time to re-plan and transfer my booking.

Hey guys, I think it is a good think that Mayflower might be partnered w/Tangmere. The B1 is scheduled for a few tours while Tangmere and a couple other locomotives have a more substantial schedule in Comparison.

I know we are six months down the line from the WCME's next February but I hope that RYTC could pursue PRLCT to have 6233 as the Motive power for this winter.

With all of the buzz about 45231 making this trip south and people also talking about the Duchess in the Royal Duchy/ Dorset Coast threads It would definitely be a good way to get many people a great opportunity behind the beast on the WCME's. Railfans and the public alike.

Think annual maintenance and repainting is the priority for the owners during the winter months usually. Not sure when no. 9 ever stops though........

Well would a November, December, January 2014 be enough time to check for snags and repaint the engine, and prepare 6233 for WCME's?

Traditionally the loco seems to emerge in the spring. As it operates faultlessly under its current regime they will most likely stick with it.
If the 2 locos rostered aren't enough then be nice to see 34046 have a bash at the fells.

What really surprises me is the absence of Ollie in the advertisement.

Not surprised as the Netley route isn't approved for steam by NR

Must admit I was not surprised either knowing about the current issues with the Netley route and also as Braunton is due to be in charge ofthe Royal Duchy the following day. Had not managed to work that one out DH
