It is hard not like a castle. Talk about excitement.

Should Carnforth let all hell lose with 46115 later this month? What are they thinking? (scratching my head)

Interestingly Icons of Steam Loco Roster page doesn't mention 5029 going to Dartmouth on 26/10/13 (mind you it didn't have 70000 listed for Thursday until yesterday) but does have 34046 down to run to Sheffield Park on 09/11/13. I wonder if the latter is with or instead of 34067?

The tour on the 9th is due to feature Tangmere and either a Black Five or a B1, presumably if neither were available Braunton would be the obvious candidate. Would be a shame if the B1 can't be sourced as getting one of those down to this part of the world would be a most refreshing change!

61306 was withdrawn from today's trip by owner, so likely to be one of the 2 Black Fives at Southall. 45231 is considered the most likely at present.

    I though WCR hadn't approved 61306?

West Coast moved 61306 to and from the Mid Norfolk Railway, and ran the test train.

Re 61306. Talk on the train yesterday in East Anglia seemed to centre over some difficulty between the loco owner and WCR with, possibly, the RTC in the middle of it.

The only trouble is I have tickets and with my luck as it is this train will probably end up running at a time impossible to reach by public transport to a different destination hauled by a diesel, but fingers crossed it all works out as planned.

I think Steam Railway one point a few months ago mentioned this possibility. Disapointed its not the B1 but Top and Tail Bulleids sounds great and I'll try and get down there for it.

Looks like there could be some changes to the Dartmouth trips as the Icons of Steam website now says loco for the 19th is TBC. UKSteam says it could be either 5029, 34046 or 70000. 5029 is the only option? for the 26th Oct trip as 34046 & 70000 will be in use on the MHR that weekend.

It seems from UKSteam that Braunton is not doing the trip on the 9th November, it'll be one of the Black Fives. Could be the positioning move of 45231 to the Bluebell?

Disappointing e-mail from RTC today. The 26th October trip to Kingswear is cancelled due to 5029 being unavailable and the standby loco's 34046 & 70000 already promised to the MHR Gala.

Yeah I saw that too. 44932/45321 was how it was listed but I would assume 45321 would be the one although the Bluebell state late October as her arrival time. Would that mean that should it take the tour, 45231 would be leading from London Victoria and then detach at Sheffield Park with 34067 taking the tour back to London?

RTC state No. 34046 "Braunton” will be accompanied throughout by either 34067 "Tangmere" or an ex-LMSR ‘Black 5’ 4-6-0. Icons of Steam state - 34046.

34067 is still at Carnforth - repairs to fire box, and of the 2 black fives at Southall, the last I heard only 45231 was in working order.

Ian Riley said on Facebook a few days ago that his locos have been requested to be in London area for December. To cover for 34067 perhaps?

Dont forget this trip runs down the Oxted Line before runing to the Bluebell, and needs to be banked out of Victoria by something.
Considering it's a near sell out, I doubt the 5 will come on at Bluebell ?

RTC said a Bulleid and a Black 5... keep the faith.. theres a working Bulleid and several 5's knocking around and it's hardly a busy time of the year for mainline railtours.

What is being suggested is 45231 leading and with the other most likely 34046 on the rear. With 34046 taking the train back to Victoria and 45231 remaining at the Bluebell . The is no definite date for 45231 coming to the Bluebell where it will be on hire until next March.

Sorry my error ! It should be 34046 (not 34067) and a Black 5
