That's understandable, just like to think they were given the option in the interests of fairness with the latest development. It's a mad scramble to get 44871 off the wheeldrop at Grosmont and back to Bury instead!

That's @PRCLT6233 perogative. Pity it got into the public domain before the negotiation had been properly concluded. Maybe it'll take 46115s turn instead, 7 for a 7? Or is that while its booked for painting?

46233 will be less badly affected than some others if DBS ends up the only show in town. The court case date is not the one likely to curtail things though, its the the thing that ends 75 minutes from now.

I think that deadline has been extended to the 31st of this month.

The deadline for the consultation with interested parties was yesterday, but now WCRC have right of response until 31 January, so the deadline has not really been extended.

It might be wise to get the test run in next week.

To be fair. asking 46233 to swap around at such short notice looks desperate. The loco has a booked tour and a contract to cover. Seems fair that if they put FS on then they have to pay 46233 too.

Not to mention the income needed and budgeted for by PRCLT.

Wibble, wibble, wibble. How do you know that 46233 has not been compensated in some shape or form?

Reading this page I guess no one here has ever had a loco substituted for another on a Railtour before.
I appreciate a lot of water has passed under the bridge since those heady days of 2013 and prior when all we had to whinge about was "will it run", "where will it actually run" and "what will run it".

I wonder what does the promoter think of all this ?, I've already assumed no one cares what the passengers paying for it thinks.

I could offer an alternative to break the impasse (if there really is one).... Why not let them both run on it... 60103+46233? No need for a diesel that way.

The post didn't say they hadn't only it would be fair that they should.
It was said up thread though that PRCLT is not prepared to relinquish its booking, which equally is fair.
That post has now been deleted
So it has, didn't know posts could be deleted, only edited!
It is still quoted in the thread but one assumes @Johnb subsequently regretted and retracted the comment?

I have been reading this thread and you know what, it seems that there is quite a lot of negativity about the whole situation.

The pair of fives had been advertised as contingency from the start, and the Scotsman isn't quite ready yet- its not an entirely surprising situation is it?

Credit where credit is due, @Ian Riley and his crew have once again pulled a blinder in getting the Scotsman back in one piece, and given the extent to which it has been in bits/rebuilt & previously altered its really not all that surprising that there is some snagging to be done.

To those saying that the running in/snagging window has been too short, would you rather they had have just pulled it off months ago saying no, not going to happen, or do what they have done and pull out all the stops to try and get her ready for the given date?

It will appear in due course, and I have little doubt that it will be in better form than it has been for many years!

Don't think there has been much complaint about the advertised possible substitute becoming a reality, has there?

Not only was this trip advertised from the outset as possibly with FS and possibly not, it's some weeks yet before the NRM's official inaugural trip. If FS had been available for the 23rd January one that would have been like a dress rehearsal.
