From recollections of SLOA tours when I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's Scotsman has always had a dreadfully weak whistle.

I must confess seeing 45407 attached for the test runs my first thought was she had been attached to provide a decent whistle?

I know how to fix whistles, I will tell you how to fix it given some critical info or I could take a look at it. I to prefer hotters.

How about an American natham chime whistle , :):):):) that should get them frothing at the mouth assuming the boiler can keep up with the steam demand :)

The Heywood section is passed to 60mph for this eventuality.

Wasn't she fitted with a chime whistle, located under the footplate, during her tour of Australia to accompany the bell whistle when required?

Would be a lovely idea for the WCME, considering her guise is incorporating various little modifications of build and livery throughout various stages of her life. Now could we go as far as to suggest the American bell and cowcatcher too? ;)

At least the black 'un has to actually do some work & depending who's on the reg depends on what bark it makes, where as Gresley's finest just romps up. :)
