Anything that goes anywhere near York has to have a diesel these days.

And I'd be prepared to bet a shilling it stays that way at least until after harvest time. The farmers are looking at a good year for a change, nobody is going to risk setting fire to a few fields of wheat or barley.

I thought the oil burner might have been at the back, but no such luck........46233

Still it wasn't all bad, I picked about a pound of blackberries from the hedge!
So a summer fruits cheesecake or blackberry and apple crumble with vanilla custard?

I like them both but which is better, there's only one way to find out....................

I'll be round for tea.....and I'm not fussy which way you serve them.
Maybe like last week the 37 will be on the back coming home.

Nice pic Mark but as it was raining half an hour ago I decided not to go out to see/hear her through Alderley Edge. Now I'm thinking I should have gone after all... but RTT says 10 early out of Stockport so no chance now.:(

You would not have missed much - crawled through Nether Alderley with the driver leaning out the cab window looking rather brassed off! Perhaps the 37 had something to do with it?

Apologies, have now noticed you were discussing the evening train - must try harder!! I was obviously talking about the morning one.

I''d still have quite liked a picture of it though after getting up; early and making the effort, at least the light was good, that will teach me to leave my camera in self-timer mode, doh!

Kevin, I've not been to Alderley Edge station, what is the view like there for Crewe bound trains?

Unfortunately have never tried to take any photos from any of my local stations for obvious reasons but can tell you that Alderley Station (Crewe bound) is at the end of a mile or so straight from Wilmslow and has a straight platform approx. 100-150 yards long. However there are road overbridges at each end of the station - all buildings are at the Crewe end.

    Hope this helps.

Looks likely that this week's Flyer is doomed to have a paraffin can in the consist after 46115's pyrotechnical performance on the Spa.

Given the developments reported in the Bittern/90mph thread, expect it at the front and doing most of the work once the train crosses into York Control area (Huddersfield?)

seeing as no-one else bothered to answer, it appears No.9 is not fit as the Duchess is again on the flyer
