Re: RTC Cumbrian Mountain Express Jul-Sep 2011

Well no one noticed the deliberate mistake I made earlier when I posted this in the Cumbrain Mountain express thread... ...sorry.

For anyone travelling from the M62 from J21 through Delph I have heard there is still a diversion which last week added about 6 miles to the journey. Probably best going via the M60 and off at J23 via Ashton

Not sure I should reply to that on a Scarborough Flyer Thread .........

Cromwell is due in Crewe tomorrow @ 14:47, 5305 hasn't been lit tonight, so if Cromwell doesn't show, realistically only Lizzie could do Saturday. Still not heard about Sun and Mon, I'm assuming it will be 5305 and 70013 but not neccessarily in that order.

Neil - that is the only way up the valley - Denshaw is just impassable if you are in a hurry - but beware!

    M60 J22 - J23 40mph 24hour contraflow.
Don't come through Ashton and Top Mossley - go Stalybridge and Bottom Mossley via Red Rock
Traffic lights at Uppermill just below Saddleworth Viaduct

other than that - plain sailing

I'm intending doing the Earls Court Camra festival tomorrow - so I may aim for a shot at Uddersfeeled and then ECML on the way back and see what happens

Bit late now, but over Saddleworth viaduct 09.24. I'm currently stood near Colton junction. Heard a steam loco approaching, grabbed the camera then realised it couldn't be Lizzie 40 mins early. Nope, 44932 light engine, no support coach! I understand it's on the Scarborough Spas next week.

Yet another nice picture Stuart. Thanks for sharing.
Like how the smoke follows the top of the watermark, very arty!
    Regards,
    John.

.....its another belter Stuart ! I'm going where you go next time, sick of getting soaked, foggy ,dull, dreary, no sun same spot !!
However variation on a theme today, a familiar location, different view point. Someone has kindly dumped a pile of bricks under the Sam rd bridge at Diggle so i climbed up it to see over the fence.

Its a glorious evening here in Saddleworth, hope somebody gets the viaduct shot.....
I had every intention of venturing out but, on returning from work a can of beer fell out of the fridge and i felt compelled to drink it !!

........here's this mornings gloomy effort, great to have the Prinny back !!!
