Reading the blurb on this trip there appears to be some confusion between RYTC having the steam coming off at Carnforth on the return and RTT showing the steam off at Preston, anyone out there that can clear this up?

Not enough time showing for loco swap at Carnforth, also there is a Preston to Carnforth move around 2000 through Lancaster

So it's Leander then. That seems appropriate.

Is that confirmed? Brilliant and most appropriate. I have shots of her on Giggleswick bank in the 1970s

It's not confirmed yet what loco it will be for the trip, infact that is out of action at present as is Galatea. Be a laugh if it's the 8F as it has been to the seaside on the north coast once before, remember 2012 when it visited Southport.

Again, will you please stop posting your own personal uniformed speculation as fact, when you are not party to any information. This merely generates lots of unnecessary concern, not least amongst bona fide passengers on this forum.

The promoters will be the first to be informed which loco is to be used and will pass on the information accordingly.

A Bristol Barrow Road loco? 45697 would be better. One of the last four Jubes and a resident of 24E for eleven years from 52 to 63. Just paint out the 0....... only joking.

That comment was put up at exactly the same time as the post where another chap said it was gonna be Leander, just after id clicked the post reply button it then came up with the notification that another comment had been added. As im not on the tour it hadnt been said what it was gonna be until the letters for the tour had gone out, nothing has been updated on UK steam nor on the RTC website, but if it's said in the letters that it will be her then that's good enough for me.

Sorry if came across as being troublesome but wanted to make sure it was correct info first and not false info that was being shared.

That was something I was wondering. I have seen an image recently of 46256 at Lostock Hall, and the suggestion from someone who knows about these things was that it may have come off a Glasgow - Blackpool service at Preston, for turning and servicing at LH.

I had an auntie in Blackpool whom I visited in 1956, age 9. The loco from Euston was 46154 but I'm pretty sure they changed engines at Preston, perhaps because the priority for the 7Ps and 8Ps was heavy trains on the main line. It's often been commented that fifty 8Ps and a hundred or so 7Ps was not a lot for the whole of the WCML in the 50s.

At Six Bells there is a group which for years has been assembling data on rostered locos on the WCML. I've not seen the fruits of their labours but they would know.

No problem but your comment querying the original post came 45 minutes after it was made. Just because you didn't know doesn't mean the information isn't out there. And it's always worth taking on trust that people don't normally post stuff that is completely untrue unless they are in the habit of posting rubbish in which case they are normally 'called out' quite quickly.
