    I always enjoy Tullie House; the cathedral has some very interesting aspects; the castle has a rich history and now also has the Museum of Military Life.

    I have visited for years and each visit I find something new to interest me.

    I did The Waverley one way only on 21st August. Service trains from Kings Cross to York and Carlisle to Euston, thus getting a run behind FS and over the Newcastle-Carlisle line in one day from London without needing an overnight stay anywhere. I had something like an hour and a half in Carlisle, which was long enough to watch FS come off the train and run back through the station, and then go and see where the freight lines used to run and take a picture for the picture puzzle thread: http://www.national-preservation.co...or-puzzle-rules.421701/page-1073#post-1583252
