I wonder if the KWVR will make one of their excellent DVDs of this event, like they do of their gala days?

The best option is probably stay away unless you feel a photo of a train among a sea of high vis vests make a good picture

At £25 extra a time for existing KWVR photo permit holders perhaps "visa vests" may be essential...

Fit card-readers to the leading footsteps on each side of the locos. Automatically debits all your contactless cards each time a train passes you. The readers on FS could be set to take £1, those of other locos to take 50p. Cross-check the card numbers to the line-side pass register and report anyone not on the list to BTP, or perhaps to a firm of debt collectors.

When Scotsman visited the East Lancs for its latest visit a couple of months ago, it all seemed to go very well, with the minimum of 'special arrangements' put in place, bar the sensible precaution of a security man here and there in the most prominent places. The Railway made a decent return on the event and I'm pretty sure it all happened without incident. In other words, everyone was happy. It is a pity the KWVR have chosen to implement a policy towards its members/lineside pass holders that at the very least will be divisive and at the worst, create a longer term ill-feeling.

Steaming Around Yorkshire produce the DVD's for the railway of their gala events. We have been in discussions about a 'Flying Scotsman' DVD however details are yet to be finalised. Confirmed details will be available from our website once finalised.

I'll watch out for it. The Gala DVDs are always very professional.

I believe that the ELR doesn't issue photo permits and yet we regularly see shots which are clearly taken from the lineside. Unless taken 'with permission' of some sort, these would seem to be in contravention of the railway's own rules/by-laws etc.
As far as the KWVR is concerned, only paid up Members who have also bought photo permits are allowed to go lineside and so, in theory, there 'should' not be any freeloaders. Unfortunately, unless this is policed in some way, I suspect there may be some people who wear an orange vest and 'risk it'!

Could well have been taken by working members in possession of PTS accreditation.
