Didn't realise that Harry. Haven't had steam south of Carnforth for so long that I forgot about the small detail of the extra 27 miles. Too close to Preston soon to use Carnforth Loop.

Any idea of the speed at mp26? And did the big blue Beastie top Shap in the high 40s? RTT says the NB was only 5 minutes behind there.

I was at Docker and Low Gill so couldn’t tell you further up. All I know is it was going well at both locations, whereas at Low Gill the diesel was doing far more than Tangmere (Very audible!)

74 mins carnforth north jct to Carlisle with the stop at Grayrigg equals ?? 69 or 70 mins without the stop. RTT says 7.5 mins Tebay to Shap Summit. Doubtful if you could get to 75 at Tebay from a standing start.

I wonder whether Saphos will announce their intentions re diesels in advance or leave it to a late decision each time.

Just had a message from the main man in the drivers seat on the outbound run….37 mph over the top. Running at a max speed of 60mph so pretty good really.

As I understand it Tangmere has set alight to much of the Cumbrian Coast round Nethertown with the Northern Belle.

As booked. Due to tight timings for shunt moves and round the coast I believe. Might be helpful now tangmere has just set Nethertown ablaze!

A mate of mine has seen it at Wigston and the 37 is already providing huge amount of assistance, little surprise if news has reached

Of course it counts. And like LSL it would be nice to see it a bit more often.

As 60532 was approaching Wigton I heard the news of Tangmere's fire. The A2 was approaching on a red and I assumed it was gonna stop to be told of the fact. Then the signal cleared and it opened up but not much. Coasted through the station and opened up again once clear, then the Class 37 stole the show going on full power to get the train back up to line speed. I imagine it'll be the main power source now. Not that I'm complaining! It was quite entertaining!

I believe the A2 has gone back to Carlisle with the 37 leading.
