No limits on what exactly? The number of times you can ask for a contribution and get no support??

If the others did not attract the large funding hoped for why should this one be any different?
Perhaps it might be time to work out the underlying message.......?

I have never donated to a crowdfunding website so I am not sure, I was quoting parts of the original post on Facebook which I forgot to add. https://www.facebook.com/1498group/posts/1675030132746184

I'm in the process of getting the other two shut down and just having this new one as there is no need for more than one also when it says no limit I mean time limit.

It would be interesting to know why you are making this change - otherwise it just looks chaotic and random.

    <resigned sigh/>

What lessons did you draw from the previous two appeals that make you consider that this one will be successful where the other two failed?

Fundamentally, I can't see that simply changing crowd-funding platform is the silver bullet you might think.

I'm glad you realise that. Like Tom, I'd like to know why you think your previous appeals failed to raise the funds you need to preserve this unit?

Let me give you a clue. There is nothing that I can see on any of the sites you've created that suggests to me that you are the person who can make something happen for 1498. Where are the passion, the effort, the skills, the organisation, or any of the other things that will be needed to make this happen. If the owner said "yes, I'll sell to you", what would then happen?

There is another unit, unloved and neglected for longer than I've been alive, which is the subject of an appeal. The people behind that would probably be the first to admit that they don't have all the answers, but they show an approach that engages people and draws them in. And, no, I'm not going to tell you which - if you are observant, you will know which it is. If not...

    Aye aye captain!

Yep, 40 years to achieve slightly less than zero. And that's with a unique and actually interesting unit

I believe there are a number of incredibly rich benefactors who like to read NP. I wonder if, just for a laugh, one of them would like to fully fund Stuart's latest crowdfunding page. Imagine the shock to readers of this thread - and to Stuart :)

The thing is, they're probably incredibly rich from making good decisions. So...

you do get first month free then you decide if you want to carry on as a member , so for example if you get the 12 month membership and decide to carry on with membership you will have 13 months for the first year not 12 months

So can I have the first month free without paying for the subsequent 12 months immediately then?...

Sod the membership scheme, until you can answer questions like 35B's with a reasoned and believable response you ain't going anywhere.

You continue to ignore every piece of advice given from people with far more experience in preservation than you will ever have, and then wonder why you have no support. Until this changes, you will never run a successful project.

You know what? I'm alright actually...

One wonders what's in the members only area and monthly newsletter other than the standard loony scheme subject of "let's get the livery sorted first"...

I think what the scheme needs to give it credibility is evidence of a plan of action, even if only in outline, which identifies the areas to be addressed and actions required for each area. Is the unit watertight? Does it have any cover/protection? If not, I would have thought it will deteriorate very quickly if it is standing out in the open.

I wish Mr. Reeder well with the scheme. Whatever issues he may have had in the past personally, if the scheme attracts enthusiastic people with experience in the right areas (planning, organisation etc.) it may have a future but evidence of a viable strategy for the unit must come first and I would only consider supporting this scheme on that basis.
