Putting a smoking jacket on, umm shouldn't you be getting it off sharpish...

Yes I do know what a smoking jacket is, I've got a very fetching one in black velvet, but it doesn't get much use for formal smoking these days....

A smoking jacket is an overgarment designed to be worn while smoking tobacco, usually in the form of pipes and cigars, or for domestic leisure.

To address the problem of third hand smoke, smokers are encouraged to have a special smoking jacket that they only wear outside when smoking. By leaving the garment on, for example, a porch, the smoke residue is less likely to be brought into the house.Non smokers have to wear a special design

At the risk of steering this thread dangerously near the topic, very briefly saw a friend who had been stewarding the SSE today (as I rushed for my train, which then sat there for 10 minutes waiting for late Cross Country service to go ahead of it), and he told me the loadings hadn't been too bad despite being diesel hauled - in fact, the number I think he quoted sounded a lot better than the count I made on the first day a couple of years back.

I just saw the tail end of the stock as I got to the station, but I did see the exhaust from what looked like a pretty "enthusiastic" departure by the Class 47!
