Quite so. Last did the SSE with a Black 5 but no box, ergo no shovage.

Isn't the SSE a WC in-house offering? All the more scope for certainty in the way it is marketed? It is virtually nailed on to require diesel assistance so why not say so?

Route it via the Harrogate loop

They never used to have a diesel involved round there and also nicer scenery for the families and day trippers

And a jubilee should fit at hornbeam park

Great idea. Do you want to tell NR, or shall I? If a Jubilee can't had eastwards via Rochdale or Diggle, then there probably will still be an issue with going round the Harrogate loop. I think if WCRC use diesels for their own operations, then it says something about the state of the non-DB sector where NR is concerned.

No crossover from Harrogate line to Leeds avoiding line.

Not convinced there's a path through Leeds via the direct line to York on weekdays.

The evening slot on the Harrogate line has been taken by the East Coast through train.

Would love to see it, but apart from Sundays I don't think it's feasible.

Don't be silly. It's there, printed for all to see, isn't even that good enough for you??
Mr Bobbler and his family (and the SSE is aimed at families on a day out to the seaside) had a splendid day, they just didn't care one jot what had the tail light on at the back.

And here endeth, hopefully, the umpteenth playing of that well known refrain "Why don't they tell us when there will be a diesel on the back?". It's such a pity that the SSE thread has been blighted by it for the last three pages. Nothing new said; nothing new learned.

I came across this site expecting to learn something about the SSE then lost the will to live!!!

Most T+C,s state that steam is not guaranteed owing to the nature of the beast so 'shovage' can become 'haulage' if you are unlucky as happened on Wednesday.

IMHO anyone who spends lots of their hard earned without bothering to read the T+C,s has no grounds
for complaint as the information is available when booking.
