In the 1970's the remains of ex Jersey Eastern Railway Sentinel Railcar 'Brittany' (Dom K.&.E.S.R.) were scrapped by Quainton Road, the carriage body portion remained on Jersey, used as a summer house. I understand that possibly 10 years ago the carriage portion was recovered in order to build a re-creation of the early type of railcar, since then I've not heard to much about this project. Does any-one have any up to date information please?

As discussed recently on here -
    https://www.national-preservation.c...e-sentinel-railcar-preservation-trust.675313/
Also our group had a talk last week about the development of this project.
All seems to be progressing but the eventual unit /s to be obtained is still awaiting a decision by the current owners.

As part of the talk a list of surviving items of stock was shown and the Jersey Std gauge unit is listed but is currently being worked on possibly in Romania.
    No other detail known.

I believe the project is still progressing although I haven't spoken to the owner about it for a while. He is a very busy person with involvement in many other projects. The coach body is being rebuilt in Romania and the donor locomotive is there. http://www.uklocos.com/final-results.asp?action=display&Id=199

I think you've referred to 2 different projects in your posting.

The narrow gauge sentinel railcar project from Sri Lanka is hoping to return 1 or possibly 2 of the railcars currently out of use in that country. This project has no links to the Jersey project.

The Jersey project is using the remains of Sentinel 0-4-0T 9374/1947 (as linked by Steve above) and mating it with a rebuild/replica of the original railcar body found on Jersey many years ago.

I meant to say that I know that they are 2 separate projects but that as part of the talk the history of Sentinel was given and also a round up of the surviving items of stock in all gauges was given.

Yes indeed. I also attended the presentation. It was very informative, especially as my knowledge of Sentinel railcars was almost nil prior to attending the presentation!

Always had a soft spot for Sentinel products, both road and rail. Look forward to this.
