Announced via the FB page that the timetable with allocations will be released tomorrow. Class 58 will no longer be in attendance

I think most visitors at diesel galas are more interested in riding behind everything (or their favourite/required locos) rather than just seeing them.

    That is usually the case.

I must be in the happy minority who don’t mind what turns up next because whatever it is, it’s going to be good!

Maybe so but for someone like myself who’s ‘enjoyed’ several trips behind 47712, I’d be rather happy to avoid it :)

That's fine, but this forum would be a rather tedious place if it was just filled up with everyone's favourite - or least favourite - locos.

Am interesting mix with 18 traction units at work (21 if you separate the Class 20 / HST / Class 43/4 into single traction units). Given the success of the steam gala let's hope the diesel gala attracts equal interest. The Class 43/4 work only on Friday hence presume they will be display items at Kidderminster during the rest of the event.

Yes, as announced they will be on display Saturday and Sunday.

    For interest, posted elsewhere:
“All locos are based ex KR this year, with the exception of D1062, D8568 & 20142 (spare) which spend their evenings in Bridgnorth.

We’ll will be using the dock platforms at KR and C&W yard to stable locos so they can be seen, but some will go onto the ‘shed’ after working.”

Well the forecast for the gala is fairly good, with a very low percentage chance of rain on the Friday.

There's a Facebook post from the KR booking staff. Advance sales suggest it will be busy so they're opening on Wednesday, allowing people to collect wristbands and gala brochures.

    EDIT:
Due to incredibly high demand they'll be extending the opening times of Kidderminster Ticket Office as follows over the Diesel Gala
    Wednesday 0900-1900
    Thursday. 0630-1900
    Friday. 0630-2000
    Saturday. 0630-1800
    Sunday. 0800-1700

With the new bridge in position can anyone advise its suitability / practicality for photography of arrivals / departures ? TIA for any information.

The parapet is 180 cm tall, bring steps to see over it. It’s wide enough for others to pass. It’s just about possible to get some shots from the steps to the bridge

My son and I have our tickets and even managed to persuade SWMBO to come along too. That's the catering sorted out then! My son is looking forward to the Castle set as the only time he travelled on a HST was Reading to Padd in the final weeks of their mainline schedules. The 58 was going to be a coup but plenty of other traction to get excited about, especially 821. Forfeited the Swanage Gala for the first time in years as couldn't justify 2 in 2 weeks so looking forward to it. Is it Saturday yet?

I’d recommend Bewdley Buffet for a decent breakfast, I’ll find out if Dad’s cheffing over the weekend :)

“Could there be a more beautiful picture?”

So messaged my daughter, with a screenshot of SVR’s Twitter feed advertising the event. 20 locos to choose from, heritage stations and rolling stock, behind the scenes activities. What image could she have chosen?

A pie and a pint of porter in the Railwayman’s. Could there be a more beautiful picture?
