Wrong livery, the LMS set as a Manchester - Plymouth through train would look better.

on any other line i'd maybe not disagree but when you know a full set of GWR carriages sits in the carriage shed and not able to be used on public trains there has to be a feeling of what could have been

the impact of a full rake of GWR coaches though would have been something else . Yes I know those that booked can enjoy it on the charter but preservation is about showcasing the best to all . Much lineside discussion over the Friday and Saturday were how many were planning on turning out for the charter anyway

The manor, hall and West Country all need to be turned, too!

It was facing Bridgnorth on Sunday night. Isn't it supposed to be facing Kiddie?

It would be helpful if the SVR actually published the info. I don't get the why the big secrets all the time. Should be putting everything out there to get people to part with their cash.

Thanks, Martin, for the info about this Gala. It doesn't quite tell us all we need to know though. I know we have seen the rumoured directions the locos face from a source on Facebook. Is this info correct?

It's the day before the Gala and there is still no official info. on loco directions (unless I have missed it). TBH, SVR, that is pretty poor.

That is a little unfair on the SVR . The facing shared on the all you need to know thread are direct from one of the gala organisers and were shared last night on the SVR facebook page as well. Now of course I can't legislate for the unexpected but what has been shared has been done so in good faith

Thanks, Martin. Just wanted to confirm that Facebook is now the official source of info, rather than the SVR website. Perhaps "Gala organiser" might have sounded more official than "SVR volunteer".

as others have shared from a general perspective , Facebook is much easier and quicker to update than a website and so you do see many lines sharing on Facebook well before any website updates

The weather forecast for the gala has improved with Friday not as wet as forecast at the beginning of the week and Saturday and Sunday might *whisper it* be dry.

In that case maybe the website should carry “latest updates on facebook”.

Not everybody either has access to Facebook or uses Facebook. For security reasons I have NOT signed up to the site and have no intention of doing so hence my dependence on the SVR website; I wonder how many others are like me hence lost to the various bodies who use / depend only on Facebook.
