Does anyone know if 7812 will be turned tomorrow as 6990 was going to be? Thanks!

    Excellent gala!!

Ten engines running over Friday/Saturday, including 34053 and 34027 on both days, immaculate GWR coaches, the autotrain and Edward Thomas giving footplate rides at the engine house...

Many thanks to all who made it happen!

Great show from the SVR considering the last minute changes. The double headed panniers were the highlight for me. Hope you enjoy. =)

Today's loco diagrams were all over the place (not complaining just stating a fact). I assume 1501 failed as her turns were covered by 1450 for the morning and 43106 did the return limited diner instead. 6412 covered 1450's turns and 4566 doubled up with 6430 on the afternoon train as basically 6412 diagram just disappeared. 4566 ran single headed in the morning and the return lunchtime trip as a result. 7812 was not turned like 6990 was going to be and 34053 was facing a different way to stated, so a bit of a nightmare for photographers today! Trains generally ran to time, with good diagramming swapping it goes to show running to time is an important thing and can be achieved.

Had a good day out at the railway overall once again, many thanks to all the volunteers. Some cracking photos on here.

A couple of favourites from a rather good day's filming at the Valley today. Focused mainly on the tank engines; the highlight of which was 4566's solo workings. A grubby Prairie, chucking out dirty black smoke and, most importantly, noise! What's not to love?

Failed last night with a broken spring hence the switching around.

It's been confirmed elsewhere that 6990 will be in use over the Easter weekend (which is all steam) so people can sample her and at normal fares.

I enjoyed a good day out at the gala on Saturday, despite the drab and cold weather stubbornly persisting throughout. Considering the absence of two big draws in 6990 and 7802, there seemed to be a reasonable crowd in, too. (Good to see both those locos on display in accessible places at Bridgnorth.) The trains weren't as jam-packed as in September, but that was hardly surprising and frankly made travelling more comfortable. The double-headed panniers were a real highlight, and timekeeping was excellent: none of the trains I caught were more than six minutes late all day and I made all my hoped-for connections.

I thought the timetable was a pretty good one, with a reasonable amount of variety, although it had clearly (and understandably) been written to show off 6990, so I did end up seeing rather a lot of its replacement (7812)! Tickets were checked noticeably more often than at the ASG, though that may be in part because many trains in September were so rammed that the TTIs couldn't get along them! As usual, the staff I came across were a credit to the railway. All in all, a solid gala rather than an exceptional one, but "solid" by the SVR's high gala standards is still pretty good. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.

My footage from the Sunday. Focusing solely on 6412, 6430, 4566 and 1450.

Another good show from the SVR. My video from the Saturday featuring most of the locos running. The lineside clearance team have certainly done a good job.

We had a lovely day riding the trains up and down on Friday despite the mist, seeing some great Loco's and stations. Then Saturday we found time for our 'now regular' call at Eardington for Tea, Cake and to sponsor some bricks with a great bunch of people there.
