Update for Shakespeare Express Weeks 3 > 11.....or July 14th through Sept 8th for those that aren't counting!

We plan to be back to our usual route for the rest of the year - Trains A&C along the North Warwick; B&D along the mainline through Doridge and Solihul.

4965 "Rood Ashton Hall" will be proudly hauling the majority of the trains with the exception of Aug 18th and Sept 8th when we plan to use 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe".

However, we reserve the right to change this at our whym!

Our online booking system is in full swing for the SE - www.shakespeareexpress.com

Confirmation, when you know it, that NR will be allowing business as usual this Sunday would be hepful as we are all coming up from Hampshire for a touch of GW magic. There....a Southern man can still respect the pretty engines.

At this time, we have heard nothing to say that we cannot run on Sunday.

I'm not sure how to take that so here we go

North Warwicks , gives you 8 miles of climb at 1 in 150 Bearley to Earlswood , it isn't until you get to Shirley that you get to the suburbs. Visually you see more from the North Warwicks than the main , which in fairness does allow the 20 minutes of speed from Hatton to Tyseley but that is a green corridor in the main

It would be nice if each season a couple ot weekends could see the Shakepeare express go back up the North Warwicks

    I don't disagree.

Maybe we will put in to come up the N.Warwick on a few occasions during the year. As long as we tell eveyone in advance, I dont see it being a problem.

    Thanks for the input.

All, an update for Sunday 14 July. Due to the risk of Lineside fires, we are taking the 47 with us as a safety measure.

The 47 will be on the rear on trains A&C

The 47 will be at the front, but inside the Hall for the sprint up the mainline on trains B&D.

We have the two Rays as drivers, so I am sure it will be a fun few trips.

    Cheers!

    Ben

Well we had a thunderstorm at Grantham on the Jolly Fisherman and everywhere got put through the rinse cycle so there was no holding back on the climb to Stoke Tunnel with 70013. Hopefully the Cl47 won't spoil things too much on the Shakespeare.

On our train D, unfortunately we got stopped at Bearley Jcn and informed that due to a points failure we would have to return to B'ham via the North Waricks hope this explains our 'non appearance' on the mainline.

Hi there guys. We are travelling Pullman on trains A & D this Sunday. Is it likely to be steam hauled still? I see it is likely to be diesel assisted but does that mean that the steamer is only an ornament...?? Hope to see steam out on Sunday...praying for a heavy shower Saturday night... :s

Hi RalphW, I did contact VTL on Monday and the lady said they were waiting to hear. I just wondered if anyone had any updates.

I suggest the weather forecast is likely to answer your question ?, certainly been no rain in Brum for about a fortnight as of time of writing.

After five years of wet summers, we shouldn't moan about the present spell of good weather, but if it could rain just during the nights, ...

My wife and I are still looking forward to a nice day out on the Shakespeare Express to start off our holiday in Brum. Plenty of preserved railways around, which hopefully will be unadulterated steam. Plus, of course, some National Trust gardens!

Any idea on the motive power situation for Sunday ?, had a few showers in the week while Friday looks a lot cooler with more showers on Saturday night/Sunday, so fingers crossed.
